Toyota Denies 'Fire' story.

NEWS
4 February 2008
Posted to the web 4 February 2008

The management of Reelin Toyota Liberia has denied reports placed on the internet that its facilities on Bushrod Island have burnt to ashes.
It was gathered over the weekend that there was a report on the internet which claimed that Toyota Liberia has been burned down.

But the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mr. Seymour Grann categorically refuted the report, saying, 'it is not true; we are still operating.'
He said he was shocked over the report and wondered why someone would or group gave such false information.
Meanwhile, our reporters who visited the company's facilities yesterday afternoon said there was an indication of a fire incident. They however said the company's facilities are still intact.
At the same time, neighbors interviewed said the report was "news' to them because such an incident never occurred there. "Had there been a fire incident, this would have been known," one said.
And there is absolutely no truth to the rumor that a Prius or a Camry hybrid was there.

I think it was actually delayed, to re-do the interior was the rumor... and it has had more than it's share of problems.

Seriously, when was the last time you towed more than 4,500 pounds (Acadia's capacity) but less than 6,500 pounds (the capacity of half of the Tahoe models)? And when was the last time you had 7 people plus luggage in your Tahoe?

Now how often do you put $75 worth of Venezuelan gasoline in your Tahoe? Yes, that is why people buy Acadias.
Last fall for me. It's hard to race with snow and ice.

Talking Re: NHTSA to investigate GM SUV fires

I own nothing but GM vehicles. Currently have a 2007 Tahoe LT3 and 2008 Corvette and several classic/muscle cars and work trucks. All are givning and have given excellent service and will continue to do so, I am sure.

I owned 2 rice burners in the past (have to admit it) but never again. I routinely get way into the 200 K mileage on GM vehicles and keep them 10 years or more.

Two vehicles in the entire country that happened to burn for some unknown reason doesn't bother me and I still park mine in the garage attached to the house.

As to why own a Tahoe or any SUV? The same reason I own anything, I want it, I pay for it, and it is my business. Nobody's else's concern. It is comfortable and yes, I did buy it for family vacation trips.
