Lexus recalls 57,000 cars

Toyota recalling 57,000 Lexus cars
Seatbelts in Lexus GS and IS sedans could jam, automaker says

"Toyota Motor Corp. said on Wednesday it is recalling 11,000 Lexus cars in Japan and 46,000 overseas to fix a faulty seat belt part.

Toyota will replace seat belts in both front seats, which can become jammed inside the holding due to a faulty part, it said.
The affected cars are Lexus GS and IS sedans."

good, its high time ppl realize that all companies have defaults, and that even famed lexus has recalls...I'm impressed with them, but they are not all everyone has them cracked up to be.

Yeah, that goes to show that all companies have flaws.

But remember, Lexus built its reputation on a recall...and they know they have flaws. Unlike GM, who puts out crap and lets the consumer suffer, Lexus corrects the problem if they put out junk, just like they did on the first LS 400...

Exactly!

People think all the Honda and Toyota recalls are because they are junk. They actually stand behind their products and fix the stuff instead of the customer having to do it.

I'm surprised how many people on here agree with me. It seems like most of the time people are too busy trying to hate Toyota that they can't see past the surface to see what the reality is.

It's stupid to think that something won't have a recall; these cars are designed by humans, who make mistakes. The difference is, Toyota corrects their mistakes, when they rarely make them.

But here at GMI, people make a big deal about it - "Oh, see they're not so Perfect now! Ha Ha!" which is a stupid attitude. They aren't perfect, and everyone knows it. THe difference is, they have mistakes, but they don't ignore them and say, well, the consumer can fix that. They correct it.

Like when they had sludge problems with their V6 engines a few years ago, they fixed the problem.

But with GM, it seems like when the problems arise (i.e. a good one is the rear differentials on the CTS that whine real bad) the dealers either say it doesn't exist, or just make it a huge hassle to get it replaced.

And that's the difference. People who own new Hondas or Toyotas don't have problems like that with the dealer, because the dealers treat them right and because they fix problems, no questions asked.

That's how Toyota got to where it is now...

Re: Lexus recalls 57,000 cars

Arg! We hear all the time about how many recalls GM has, but somehow their recalls are different than Lexus'? How is it that GM recalls are bad and Lexus recalls are good? I understand that it's nice to know a company is standing behind their product... but first and foremost a recall points out that something was done wrong. One recall doesn't mean Lexus builds garbage... but how a recall is handled is the second chapter to the story. The first is that there's a recall in the first place. GM had a record (I forget how many) number of recalls last year, and yet no one is using that as proof that they stand behind their vehicles. I just don't get how anyone differentiates GM recalls and anyone else's recalls.

Awesome. I'm sure the mainstream press will bury it.

No recalls are good, I don't know where you get that from.
GM gets bad press because they have TOO MANY recalls. To the point where you're like "Did a 4 year old kid design this piece of junk?"

Lexus has recalls rarely, whereas GM seems to have some every year...
