I can guarantee that they knew about it. Maybe not the people you or others were talking to. Did you get your car fixed yet? We are supposed to have one coming in for that very problem on Friday.

- If someone is in third gear in a Honda, they are likely going ~35 mph. - For there to be a "squirrelly" condition in the rear suspension at 35 mph, one would have to be taking a 45* corner (or greater). - Light gas condition, then shifter pops out.....car unaffected. - Heavy gas condition, then shifter pops out.....probably a startled driver due to spirited acceleration coming to a halt without driver input. I fail to how this is at all as big of a safety deal as you claim. Would I get it fixed if it were my car? Yes. Would I consider it a "safety" issue? Yes. But only a completely terrible driver would crash due to this condition.............and I have seen people crash a perfectly functioning car. ![]()

And yeah, I had it fixed when it first came out. It popped out on me two times the first adn second day I had it back. It hasn't since, it's still pretty notchy, but I've come to expect that from this transmission. As long as it doesn't grind or pop out anymore, I'm fine. But Honda still won't address second gear grinds, which are pretty frequent in many Si's too.

Re: Honda recalls 353K Accord sedans
I don't know about the Si, but for the TL and TSX, many Acura dealers (and everyone on the acura boards) are recommending GM Synchromesh fluid to resolve issues with the MT. I've heard a bunch of dealers are even stocking GM Synchromesh fluid now.

My '07 Avalanche has a transmission that is effectively a 25yr old design that is still about as likely to have problems as yours. It already has a delayed, harsh 1/2 shift when cold. Look at all the problems GM, Ford, Chrysler, Toyota and everybody else has had over the years. This is TINY compared to some of the things that happen. For instance....we install an average of 2-3 sets of sway bar links and bushings on the Chrysler vans per week. Same with steering racks, shift packs. We also replace a TON of u-joints, ball joints, steering shafts, evaporators and radiators on the Dodge trucks. They've been having these problems for many years. No updated parts, no TSB's, no recalls and no warranty extensions. It was the same at the Ford dealer I worked at and it is the same with GM.

Re: Honda recalls 353K Accord sedans
Just wait. If you live in a cold climate, give it a year. Even my Honda dealer admit they pretty much failed to insulate the car at all due to cost-cutting measures.
And the transmission? Best for the money...when it's working properly, that is: a.) Not grinding into second. b.) Not popping out/grinding/resisting third gear entry. And that's just the tranny.

Re: Honda recalls 353K Accord sedans
I now understand where GM owners on this forum get annoyed with foreign owners.
I know far more people with Civic problems than not.

Re: Honda recalls 353K Accord sedans
i post here because im a GM fan at heart and grew up in a family the exclusively bought some bad a$$ loaded GM cars....until the 90s.
since then i've owned alot of hondas and their percieved reliability and high resale has always worked in my favor. sorry you and all your friends havent had the same experience. that said.... cant we all just get along? i just want to post about cars and not pick each other apart for our views.
