GM recalls more than 400,000 pickups

http://yahoo.reuters.com/stocks/Quot...ol=GM.N&rpc=44

DETROIT, May 1 (Reuters) - General Motors Corp. (GM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) is recalling more than 400,000 pickup trucks due to defective brake lights, U.S. safety regulators said on Monday.

The automaker is recalling 2004 to 2006 models of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups and 2006 models of the Isuzu I-280 and I-350 trucks,

Heard about it this morning, I haven't had any such problems. But it is nice to have a recall on a potential problem.

Who makes the brake lights for these, anyone know?

Re: GM recalls more than 400,000 pickups

That's a lot of trucks. Hopefully it's a relatively simple fix and will not cost a lot. There is a lot that has to be perfect in a new vehicle for there not to be a recall of some sort. Will this get the same amount of press that the 130 Toyota Camrys with the two bum transmission gears? Should be interesting.

Re: GM recalls more than 400,000 pickups

I believe the problem is with the brake relay switch (simple, cheap, and quick to replace at least). I and many others at coloradofans.com have had these go bad, causing the brake lights not to work.

I think it is very responsible of gm to issue the recall.

The number is large, but it's a relatively minor thing. That being said, the idiot portion of the media will plaster the number of vehicles involved all over the place to scare people into watching their broadcasts. Then the non-idiot media will fear "missing out on a big story" so they'll follow suit.

Re: GM recalls more than 400,000 pickups

Let's remember that it's a recall on 400,000 pickups.. it doesn't mean that all those will have the problem...

Yes, they ignored the recent Tundra recall, but they won't ignore this one. One more reason, I don't pay too much attention to the media.

It would be interesting to know who made the switch...

They retail for $12.53...so not expensive...
As I write this, the Chicago PDC only has 3 in stock!

I somehow think a new part# will be introduced...

yeah, and the problem with that idiot media is that they don't always put 2 and 2 together. high volume models will have high numbers of recalls if something goes wrong just because of the sheer number of that particular vehicle that's on the road.

Re: GM recalls more than 400,000 pickups

It was the GM360s that had the tail light recall last year.

It never gave me problems, but I did have to change the light bulb on the back right light a little too often before the recall.
