GM to recall 275,936 cars in U.S. due to fluid leak

http://www.marketwatch.com/News/Stor...yhoo&dist=yhoo

GM is recalling 275,936 Cadillac, Pontiac and Saturn sedans ranging from 2005 to 2007 due to a problem in the rear axle pinion seal that could lead to a fluid leak, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday. The leak could lock up the drivewheel, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. GM said the recall is expected to begin in February 2008.

Bad news but... I must say this seems to have been a good year for GM on recalls. As far as actual numbers and severity are concerned anyway. Either that, or I haven't been paying attention. Anyone have any totals on the year thus far?

I guess 2007 was too good to be true for GM recalls. Still better than Toyota though!

I guess the Toyota Tundra recall involving 15,600 trucks doesn't look so bad now.....

Don't get me wrong, recalls are not good, but I'd much rather be on the wrong end of a seal than transmission problems and the other whack of much more costly repairs Toyota has had to deal with.

Nobody's perfect, but I'm glad to see the imperfections be smaller, easier things to fix like a seal.

Sucks. It's a supplier issue. (hint, hint)
