Unhappy Ford Recalling More Than 655,000 Trucks

WASHINGTON -- Ford Motor Co. is recalling more than 655,000 Ford F-150 and Lincoln Mark LT pickup trucks to fix a hose that could affect the vehicles' braking power.

The automaker is issuing the recall of 2005-2006 versions of the trucks with 5.4 liter 3-valve engines.

That's according to a posting Wednesday on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Ford spokesman Wes Sherwood said more than 600,000 of the trucks are in the United States and about 50,000 are in Canada.

Not a good thing when you've been playing the quality card lately.

That would be my dad's truck. He's been having problems with the brakes too.

Drive one.....then not stop

Seriously though this is a bad sign for Fords best selling vehicle.

Re: Ford Recalling More Than 655,000 Trucks

well they are now 3 years old

and the good sign is - only 11 MINOR incidents and no injuries, and there is a huge recall done .. no more lawsuits, waiting and seeing what happens and pretending there is not enough evidence ..

Hopefully this is one of the last ones.

Re: Ford Recalling More Than 655,000 Trucks

I know a guy that had this happen to his Lincoln Mark LT a month or two ago. The brake booster hose fell off so it didn't have power brakes, not a big deal to him, but a little old lady might have troble pushing the pedal hard enough. The weird thing about it is that even with a huge vacuum leak, the engine ran smooth and fine, I've never seen an engine that would idle smooth with a large vacuum line unhooked. The bad new for Ford is that this line attached on the back of the intake manifold which is waaay under the dash, could be and expensive labor repair.

I thought braking was never a problem. It was running? Found On Road Dead.

Just kidding, though. I have much love for Ford. My first new car was a Focus and it was a GREAT car.

This sucks. Hopefully it's not too much of a kick to the wallet for Ford.

I understand that Ford's qaulity has improved in that time, but this could cause some big accidents.

What are we talking here, a 6inch rubber hose that needs to be replaced.
Can't they just mail it out to everyone.

You underestimate the brain power of most of the people out there. Hell half the time they cant find the turn signal on their trucks!

Re: Ford Recalling More Than 655,000 Trucks

glad they are fixing the problem rather than letting it go, just one of those things, you just don't know how well things will hold up until you have some time and wear on them, it gets the best of any manufacturer.
