Ford recalling 134,000 Mercury SUVs

Padding needs to be adjusted on driver's side of Mariner SUVs in order to prevent collision injuries.

April 13, 2006; Posted: 11:24 a.m. EDT (1524 GMT)

DETROIT (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co. is recalling 134,365 Escape and Mercury Mariner sports utility vehicles to adjust the padding on the driver's side to prevent injuries during a collision, according to U.S. safety regulators.
The vehicles affected by the recall are from the 2005 model year, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on its Web site on Thursday.
No injuries or accidents were connected to the recall, Ford spokeswoman Kristen Kinley said.
Ford is also in the process of recalling over 19,000 Mustang Cobras because the accelerator pedal can stick on the floor carpeting in the car.

Re: Ford recalling 134,000 Mercury SUVs

I always like to see companies take the high road with recalls, jumping to it before anyone gets hurt. As much as i'm sure they would rather not have any recalls... better to be safe than sorry. I like to think a company I buy a car/truck from has my best interest in mind.

It's got almost the identical interior. They are basically the same car with different names

It includes the Escape also. I only wish that Mercury had sold 134,000 for 2005. My Mariner is included in the recall, I am waiting for my letter Mr. Ford.
