Re: Engine Fires? Nissan Stops Sales of Altima, Sentra

To think, I used to own a Nissan. They may have more equipment, but with Renault as their parent company, their quality has seemed to have gone to pot.

Nissan sucks, I've never know them to be particularly good cars. They just do ok as some people like their weird designs and they are Japanese.

You really should be more explanatory with your accusation, what about his statement makes him an idiot?

By the way, Nissan can burn in hell, with their oil consuming engines.

I would say Nissan has always been about average in power and quality... and nothing really exceptionally bad. The current Nissan focuses more on horsepower, though.

I don't get the feel that people buy Nissan because it's Japanese... it's more like a brand loyalty thing since Nissan/Datsun has been around for a long time in the U.S. market. The Z-car, SX-car, Maxima, and Hardbody crowds are pretty loyal to Nissan cars and trucks.

When people think "reliable, high-quality Japanese cars," they are really thinking Honda and Toyota vehicles, usually not cars made by Mazda, Nissan, Mitsu, and Suzuki.

Re: Engine Fires? Nissan Stops Sales of Altima, Sentra

Hypocrisy at it's finest.

With reports of engine fires, countless surveys showing Nissan's quality isn't that good, most on GMI *still* think Nissan makes "great" cars, and that "Toyota sucks". I'm surprised that not one fanatic has yet to mention any 'Toyota sludge' comments, and to say how Nissan is still "much better" than Toyota, although reality would indicate otherwise.

Nissan sales are dropping by a noticeable amount in several markets like the US, Canada, and even in their home market of Japan. This should really have Nissan execs worried.

Despite all the hate, envy, jealousy, and negativity towards Toyota, the reality is that Nissan is having more problems than Toyota.

When Toyota continually denied oil sludge problems it never surfaced in the media until a class action suit from thousands was filed. Then it was too big of a problem to deny.
I watched a Grand Prix burn to the ground on Thursday on a highway. It kind of bothers me as I own one.

My impression is exactly the opposite.

What about the statement made him seem anything but? It was poorly typed, poorly constructed, and made virtually no sense. When you're online, your words are your voice. If you expect people to listen, type something that's coherent.

Well that sucks. Nissan is my favorite Japanese company.

But then again, all those cars have "fart burners" on them. That "fart burner" ads 5-10HP to your car ;some of those small Hondas can whip a Vett off the line. (from anti-rice.com)
So 115hp+10hp=430hp, at least in ricerland

That's true. I hear Car-Japanophile friends say "Japanese" this and that, but they rarely include Suzuki, Mitsubishi or Mazda in their blanket statements. Usually they are referring to the cream of the crop --- and often the opposite when they refer to Detroit's cars, picking what they consider the worst dogs like the S-10 Blazer, Stratus or the Taurus to typify all Domestics - with a little grudging respect for the Corvette.

Nissan, however, is included in their discussion of what is "good" Japanese - its just a little more model specific.

I imagine this also includes the SPEC-V. It uses the same 2.5 liter I4, just a stronger version of it. The description said SE-R's were affected and the SPEC V is a package for the SE-R.

SPEC-V viable to the Civic Si? I've ridden in a SPEC-V and was not impressed, but hey, the new Si's don't impress either. The SPEC-V does look better, even though it's a sedan. If you want impressive from Nissan, go Z.
