Re: Nissan Stops Sales Of Two Vehicles

Maybe the same will happen to Toyota so GM will have a slim chance of getting back on the press's good side. Seriously. Add in Honda as well. lol

Nissan just seems to be having all kinds of problems lately. And to have one of their top designers bashing GM and boasting about their cars, well, is a load of BS.

I'm sure Consumer Reports would say that these are just teething pains.

Having driven one, it really isn't a bad motor. in fact, it's pretty good.

It's 'coarse and unrefined' and has drivable torque which is how I like my motors.

The current sales slump had nothing to do with flaming engines...

i'd probably agree with that. their product line is aging, especially when it comes to the cars that other Japanese companies are selling lots of. Honda is selling large numbers of Accords and Civics, whereas Nissan's corresponding models (Altima and Sentra) are old in comparison.

Nissan said it had extended the engine portion of the vehicles' warranty on Altimas and Sentra SE-Rs built during January to May 2006 to 84 months or 100,000 miles.
Thats really smart of them.

It has something for everyone.

.........not really off base I'm talking about the 4 cylinder not V6 and it is over rated and very noisey in the cabin(engine and road noise). The trim was part of the chrome deal I gave credit for and yes the cup holders are in the right spot. Yep you're right top of their class ,so good in fact they use oil and catch fire. The current altima was about looks too bad if you own one of those BLAZING engines............lol

Re: Engine Fires? Nissan Stops Sales of Altima, Sentra

Just spoke with my sister- in law in Alabama, and she 's had her 2006 Altima for about 7 months. She and my brother say they've had it with the problems. They're looking at replacing it as soon as possible!

Quite a few GrandPrixs have caught on fire and tons of LS2 owners complain of huge oil consumption. It seems like when a manufacturer is told of a potential problem and then takes the proper action by basically acknowledging (longer warrenty) it they get hammered in the press.

When Toyota continually denied oil sludge problems it never surfaced in the media until a class action suit from thousands was filed. Then it was too big of a problem to deny.
