Re: Chrysler recalls 77,233 Sebring convertibles, Avengers

Wow! Talk about terrible build quality. From a faulty fuel tank straps that can break to door latch problems. I'm probably going to be dead by the time I get ejected from my Dodge before I can even notice that I was in an accident. Chrysler seriously needs to build their vehicles with better quality and safety. The Dodge Avenger does look ugly in my opinion. It looks like a bloated frog.

If those at Cerberus have a knot in their throat, imagine what the people at toyota and Volkswagen must feel.

It's interesting that these 2 cars are selling pretty good. They may not have the best interiors and the engine lineup leaves a lot to be desired but they do look distinctive. No boring plain slab sides here. No Camry copycat styling there. They just need to improve quality and fix those terrible stone hard seats and some of the cheap interior plastic.

The Avenger is a nice (even kinda cool) looking car but Chryslers quality has not been up to par for decades. a decent product here and there but over all been crap.

It is quite a plummet. Not so long ago, Mercedes-Benz was losing billions and Chrysler was the profitable one.

The Sebring is just so ugly. The Avenger isn't so bad.

Have they had any issues with the convertible hardtop?

Has Pontiac ever had any recalls on the G6 convertible? It was delayed so long in launch, I hope they got it right. Nice looking car (the G6 conv).

Well, this was one of the last cars that is currently in production that was designed under Daimler's lead... I think things can only get better now. The Germans wanted to ruin this company.

Re: Chrysler recalls 77,233 Sebring convertibles, Avengers

I'm not utterly surprised at this recall. I went to the local Chrysler dealer a few months ago to look at the new Sebring convertible, and the first car they intended on showing me was out of the picture when the top jammed. Aside from the addition of new technologies and/or safety features, there are few if any real improvements in the new Sebring. Certainly looks are not to counted among them.

Bottom-drawer in it's segment.
they're really not bad cars, and the Avenger especially has some thoughtful little features. i don't think i'd buy one, but it would be considered at least.

Re: Chrysler recalls 77,233 Sebring convertibles, Avengers

i'm finding it strange that they are not advertising the poop out of their "lifetime powertrain warranty". I really thought they would be pounding this, but they are not....I don't even know how it works. If I sell the car in two years, does it revert back to what would be remaining of a 3 year 36,000 mile powertrain warranty? I know the lifetime is not transferable....and not available on any SRT vehicles, so basically, anything worth owning....
