Chrysler recalls 77,233 Sebring convertibles, Avengers

All you owners of Chrysler's 2007-2008 Sebring convertibles and Dodge Avengers will soon be getting a recall notices from Chrysler. The letters will warn owners of those cars of a door latch problem that could potentially lead to unbelted passengers being dumped into the road during a crash. Dealers are instructed to fix both front doors with a "secondary retention feature."

You lucky 2008 AWD Avenger owners will either get longer letters or another letter entirely, to inform you of another problem with your cars. While your door latches are being worked on, your dealer's mechanics will be replacing faulty fuel tank retention straps that could break and cause fuel to leak out, which you would then roll around in after being dumped in the road when your door opens -- something few drivers consider a good thing.

Hey its a safety feature: when your Avenger crashes and bursts into flames you'll be able to escape easily

But then again, all those cars have "fart burners" on them. That "fart burner" ads 5-10HP to your car ;some of those small Hondas can whip a Vett off the line. (from anti-rice.com)
So 115hp+10hp=430hp, at least in ricerland

That is the first thing that ran through my mind when I read it. Pretty funny! Roll around in gasoline after you get ejected from your already dreadful automobile.

I don't think the Avenger is that bad looking, but in no way would I ever consider buying one, especailly after seeing this.

This kind of thing is just unacceptable and embarassing. If I were someone in charge of Cerberus I would be swallowing a very large knot in my throat. I hope they have a lot of money to invest over the next twenty years, because it'll be at LEAST that for people to consider buying Chrysler again seriously, and that's presuming they can actually turn the company around.

I used to like Dodge's products at one point, too.

That is just poor. I can't believe Chrysler fell so far so fast. Just three years ago they seemed to be on a roll. 2007 was a miserable product year for them.

2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS - I've been waiting to order a new Camaro since 2000. The hardest decision now is the color.

At least Chrysler will be able to save on the postage to send out recall notices.

Let's see... Ten to the only retail customers stupid enough to spend their own cash on one, and then one each to Hertz, Avis, Budget, and Enterprise to cover all the rest.

Total: Fourteen!

The Avenger isn't that bad all its needs is to improve the quality of interior bits, oh and fix the door latches. The Sebring on the other hand needs to be balled up and tossed in the garbage.

the Avenger has gotten decent reviews, and it's a decent car. But I agree that it needs to be recalled because it's too ugly.
