Chrysler recalling Sebring and Avenger yet again

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/05/c...ger-yet-again/

According to the USAToday, the new Avenger has had its share of engineering issues, something that the publication allowed Chrysler to respond to in depth within its review. As if being publicly humiliated by one of the largest papers in the land wasn't enough, yesterday's duo of recalls is being followed by yet another safety issue plaguing both the Dodge Avenger and the Chrysler Sebring.

A fan motor on 102,042 Avengers and Sebrings can apparently catch fire when coming into contact with engine coolant. The recall affects both 2007 and 2008 models, and owners should expect to receive notification next month to replace either the wiring or the motor itself.

Both need to be recalled for restyling! Yikes and yuck.

I don't even feel bad for them at this point. That's what they get for cranking out horrible vehicles.

Sad. Hope the "New" Chrysler gets a decent mid-size sedan to market quickly.

It looks like the fire torch has been passed from Ford to Chrysler

They both fail at quality control so I wouldn't say that just yet.

Actually, I believe the recalls might be good signs! I've been hearing that Chrysler has been ignoring many issues (including specifically cars catching on fire) over the years, with huge groups of discontented owners setting up hate websites and all, so seeing them finally issuing recalls seems like a step in the right direction.

Even though I also believe they should recall them for the looks.

See 1st gen LH car automatics, ac compressors, and suspension bushings, and the junker 2.7 sludge express for examples.

Why Mopar didn't put me in charge years ago is one of life's true mysteries.
The Sebring (not the race) and Avenger (not the TV show) would have been aborted and replaced in utero with 3rd gen Concordes and Intrepids.

The Concordes would have a Concorde SST likeness as the hood ornament, the Intrepids a Winston Churchill bust.
I would bring back the New Yorker and use the 3-headed dog hood ornament for it.
The 2.7 would have been deep sixed, recalls and new engines for all 2.7 victims initiated, and the 3.2 returned as the base motor.

With 6-speeds all around, thankyuhhverruhhmuchh.

Screwing customers over and pretending there's no problem is one damn fast and sure road to the ash heap of history.

This article has more details: http://money.cnn.com/2007/10/05/auto...l.ap/index.htm

It's nice that they'll be replacing the faulty wiring/motors, but why in the heck are so many new Chryslers dribbling coolant all over everything in the first place?!

Re: Chrysler recalling Sebring and Avenger yet again

Not good. These cars haven't exactly been a hit, so this news is not good. Chrysler has really slipped, styling-wise, since the 300 was launched. It now appears that the 300 was a one-hit wonder and not an indication of what Chrysler could produce.

I'm guessing that Sebring/Avenger will become rental car regulars.

Perhaps you were being sardonic. They meant the fan motor, not the actually engine.
