I'm surprised they sell that many.

The Sebring/Avenger isn't as bad as some make it out to be, but for the same price you can get a much more attractive vehicle. The Avenger R/T is okay, but the mini Charger styling isn't all that great.
The only thing good about the Charger anymore is the nameplate, haha

Exactly. Both the Sebring and Avenger seem rather ill-conceived. The residual values must be abysmal.

Re: Chrysler To Recall 212,000 Vehicles

At one time I started to feel bad for Chrysler, but that quickly went away when I found out the 4 cyl in the Dodge Avenger rental car I had was 3 way venture between Chrysler, Hyundai and Mitsubishi. What kind of screwed up crap is that? Now I feel like they get what they deserve. Oh and that same 4 cyl was very underpowered in a car that size.

Re: Chrysler To Recall 212,000 Vehicles

I hear about the problems Chrysler is having and I feel more convinced that Daimler did not do enough for Chrysler. All they did was give them the LX platform and did nothing else. Chrysler still makes cars that have cheap dashboard designs the Jeep Liberty and Dodge Caliber are prime examples.

...and the LX cars, and the Compass/Patriot, and the T&C/Caravan, and the Sebring/Avenger, and so on. really, do they have a good looking dash in anything they build?

Re: Chrysler To Recall 212,000 Vehicles

A lot of Chryslers good designs were sent back to the drawing board by MB to include parts that were MB sourced. The dual clutch automated manual transmission would have been out in 02-03 had mercedes not canceled the program to push their own inferior design for big rigs see freightliner. The LX cars originally slated for 03 were to be fully reconfigurable, but no we must include the last gen E-klasse rear suspension setup so no FWD then. MB royally screwed chrysler for their money then dumped them with awful product and an increased debt.

FYI, LX cars got a redesign in 08 With better materials and none of the auto mags have ragged on it and rather praised it, I was actually surprised when I saw the first 08 Charger I did because minor improvements made a huge difference, very nice. The Caliber, Comparr and Patriot are getting interior upgrades in 09, though IMHO the current interior looks fine and is comfortable, it just doesn't work for those who like to pet their dashboards as they drive down the road. I am more worried that it will hold up than how soft my dashboard is....

Ehhh, I would say that the Charger/300 are the best Chrysler has to offer, well that and the minivans.

Re: Chrysler To Recall 212,000 Vehicles

Chrysler needs to get the axe. The Journey is already under a recall due to a potential engine fire hazard.

The uber crossover Dodge keeps pushing...already recalled for engine fire issues.

Give up already. Seriously.
