Re: Another Tundra Recall...
Is it wrong for me to clap like a giddy schoolkid and giggle while reading this? Yes? Huh....I can live with that. So, is Toyota's new slogan going to be, "Moving Forward.....er, not so much"?

Re: Another Tundra Recall...
I don't know about the truck, but I'm sure some of the owners are.

Re: Another Tundra Recall...
Totally new platform, powertrain, assembly plant, and, I'm guessing mostly new supplier base, all thrown together with a stretched engineering/management staff. I don't care how good Toyota's reputation was, people should have realized that buying a Tundra this first year was a serious roll of the dice. I can't believe Consumer Reports couldn't look at this situation rationally when they first gave the Tundra their recommendation, only to have to rescind it later.

Ha! Toyota's new slogan:
Moving Forward* *Toyota in no way guarantees that you will, in fact, be able to move (either forward or rewards) in your Toyota vehicle. The slogan applies in a metaphorical sense.

That is a pretty despicable thing to say. Does Toyota not inspect the parts they put in their vehicles? If there was a problem with the supplier's parts, and Toyota did not catch it, it is just as much their fault as it is the supplier's. But Toyota would rather just blame the supplier entirely and take no responsibility themselves. |

Re: Another Tundra Recall...
What gets me is that they throw their supplier under the bus. It is the their fault. They have an obligation to check the parts they are using if they are going to be putting their name on it and sending it out the door. Of course you cant check them all, just seems like a convenient excuse.

Re: Another Tundra Recall...
Sigh.
1) Taking pleasure at seeing another Company have all sorts of troubles...is that beneath us here? 2) So it doesn't like to go forward and backward sometimes. Is that such a big deal? After all, it's a Toyota, it has NO quality issues. 3) The tailgate issue is a complete red herring; no one actually uses their truck to HAUL things, especially Toyota owners. Serves them right for putting heavy items in the pickup bed and on the tailgate. 4) There have been NO issues with camshafts in the Tundra. That is flat out impossible, as it's a Toyota. 5) Jim Press brought that Texas plant in ON TIME and on budget. He does NOT work for a rival car company, nor was he recalled to Nagoya to commit ritual hari-kari. 6) The Tundra is a fine truck, better than all of the competition. Oh what's that? Toyota's own Consumer Reports says that the Tundra V8-4WD is NOT recommended? Oh..silly, that was a misprint. Now move forward, dammit. |

Sorry, couldn't resist, although I must admit to some gleeful gloating whenever the company that can do no wrong suffers one more problem after another. My .92. (Yeah that's right, .92. Inflation and all that!) ![]() |

Re: Another Tundra Recall...
Well, while I do not wish failure on anyone's vehicle, I am very glad that it is not GM that is getting this negative press.....
