It's likely someone @ Getrag...the people who manufacture the rear diff...

After dealing with some of Getrag's other stuff, that wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Getrag better review their Quality Assurance program!!! Of course they may not have one if their customer(GM) found the problem before they did.

Hmm, the rear diff isn't somewhere I'd like to start having problems in my new 2008 Caddy. Good thing it is an easy fix and only 48 vehicles were involved. Maybe this will be an eye opening blessing in disguise for getrag?

They call it a "Customer Satisfaction Program". That's funny.

Dude. Have you been asleep about rear diff problems in the CTS? The CTS-v is notoriously weak in that area. To the point GM has basically had to bend over and take it in the rear (pun intended).

Re: 2008 CTS #07271 – Customer Satisfaction Program/loose diff bolt

Does anyone know how they know that it's 48 bad ones? The only way I can think of is if the wrench they use has some kind of feedback and recording ability. But if this is the case, they shouldn't get out of the plant.

MY '90 Dodge Cummins had a Getrag transmission. VERY noisy. The first one leaked oil right away so I got it replaced. From what I've read, they were the weak point in the truck. Certainly the reason I sold it thinking that after 190k miles I'd pushed my luck about as far as I dared.

Re: 2008 CTS #07271 – Customer Satisfaction Program/loose diff bolt

Any info as to symtoms? I have a 2008 CTS and have a rumbling issue that sounds like it's coming from the rear end. I have an engineer coming out in the next couple days to check it out and they said it sounds like a rearend issue. I'm wondering if this is the issue or if it's something else.

Hahaha. Nice pointing that out, or anti-CTS fans might have attacked the car more from left and right.

One reason I kept the recall threads locked up....as 90% of the posting is irrelevant to the topic!!!
