Ah, I see — one cannot serve two masters.

Like others have said, so long as you stay out the rice, you're good.

Re: Turncoat II: The Blue Oval Betrayal?

The only thing I would say is that you should definitly go drive and price out an 07 Avalanche before you make up your mind, tell them the deal the ford guys are giving you and see what they can do. The avalanche is just such a badass truck, my brother brought an 07 black on black home sunday with the accessory 20" wheels and that is one sleek mean looking motha.

Hmmm.

Can someone go get me a link on the specs of the '07 Avalanche, i.e. length and width? I'm too lazy to do it right now.

Now wouldn't you look hansome behind the wheel of one of these??? This truck is far more superior lookin' than some ole' bug eyed boxy F-150. I believe you may have been in a temporary delusional state when you were at Ford's delearship. We are cheering you on to come back towards the light and buy an Avalanche.

yeah its a sharp vehicle, unlike the ford which is conservative buick-y at best. check out an avalanche you won't be disappointed. i used to not favor chevy at all, now i love em, at least since potniac hasn't built excitement since 2002.

Delusion is a powerful drug. Although I must admit that the Avalanche quickly has achieved the status of a good wine since its pre-aged looking about 5 years old already, the F-150 is still king and will be for many more years. Proof is this powerful magnestism it has even over some GMI Staff Members.

If you're that lazy the Avalanche might be too much work getting in and out of.

Re: Turncoat II: The Blue Oval Betrayal?

I just checked out the specs. The Avalanche is 3.5 inches longer and about a half inch wider, which is sort of a problem for the already strained proportions in my garage. Also, considering that they're newer, I'm not confident I could get the ridiculously low lease payment that I could get with the F150.

I have GM points and I'm eligible for an employee discount, though. I'll tell you guys what: if I can round up some spare time a little later this afternoon, I'll call the local Chevy dealer and see how far I can get over the phone. If they can put something tentative together that is really attractive, I'll at the very least put off the F150 for a few days and maybe do a GM 24-Hour Test drive to see if the Avalanche will work.

OTOH, if they won't work with me over the phone, then I don't want to go down there.

There is no talking you out of it. You already listed all the absurdities involved in such a purchase:

Even your kid sees this is foolish:

Anyway, he threw that one back in my face last night when I came home with the truck, insisting I was being hypocritical. Dang kids.
And you fell for the oldest trick in the book. Every salesmen knows you'll buy the car if they can get you to drive it:

So get out there, buy the truck, ignore your kid, let it become a huge pain in your life, then in 2 years you'll get rid of it and replace it with another one (I just can't see myself without a pick-up anymore). And as you're paying $75 to fill the giant tank you'll ask yourself why did I buy this thing (other then to transport a lawn mower from Home Depot that would fit in your SUV anyway):

Two year leases are not that uncommon on vehicles where the leases drop like a significantly after 2 years. It depends on the model but from what I've seen recently the trucks tend to have lower 2 year leases while the cars have lower 3 year leases.

You kinda lost me when you said you liked the five-hundred but you have a volkswagon so that explains a little.
