Re: There's no G.M. In "Alliance"
This is hilarious.
Comparing Toyotas to appliances while stating that so many people croon over the new Impala or Monte Carlo...what a joke. Who would dream about such cars? I wouldn't buy any front wheel drive GM any time soon (except for maybe the Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix). And to say that the Japanese don't know how to build a sports car? Remember the Toyota 2000GT, the 240Z, the RX-7, and more recently the Subaru WRX STi and the Mitsubishi Lancer. Face it, GM (and everyone else in Detroit) was arrogant in the 70's and 80's, and is now having their a$$ handed to them by the Japanese. You might think the Japanese are too proud of their cars, but I'd put my wife's Toyota up against a Cobalt anyday. GM's problems go far beyond their engineering and their products, their health care costs are what are going to sink them. P.S. I grew up loving GM, learned to drive in a 66 GTO with a Tri-Power 389, and seriously considered attending GMI...I know own a Subaru WRX (the blue is real close to the 1966 Pontiac Barrier Blue), a Toyota Corolla, and of course, an old Chevy Silverado. |

Re: There's no G.M. In "Alliance"
GM can and will do it alone. It has different types of enginnering experiece at it's different divisions all round the world all it needs to do is design and build cars combining the best knowledge it has at each division and you will see some world class cars.
If Toyota, Nissan etc are so great how come they have so much trouble beating Holden here in Australia who truly would have a budget that these guy's would consider "loose change"? Even here in Australia Toyota Camry's are known as cars that are mostly driven by elderly people when they retire. GMNA needs a couple of good rear wheel drive cars to differentiate it from the Japanese imports (a re-worked VE Commodore would be a good start) For those that don't think the Camry is an appliance, here's the meaning of appliance ap‧pli‧ance /əˈplaɪ əns/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[uh-plahy-uh ns] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation noun, verb, -anced, -anc‧ing. –noun 1.an instrument, apparatus, or device for a particular purpose or use. The particular purpose is getting from A to B. What other use could there be for a Camry? ![]()
