Re: Rallying to GM's Side in Dark Times: What can we do?
Dark times are not necessarily bad. They are a huge opportunity to reflect, plan and act--Do the right things. And navigating through dark times only makes a company/individual stronger.
"We are better served only by ourselves." I believe that nobody can better help GM than GM (its employees, dealers, etc) itself. It's about rebuilding an image that suffered decades of decay. It will take dedicated enthusiast employees who won't rest until the image is restored, the customer is satisfied and the job is done. It takes people who believe that competitors don't have 4 balls to satisfy a customer. Only two will do it :-) |

Re: Rallying to GM's Side in Dark Times: What can we do?
I will always support GM 100% whenever I can. When I drove my former 91 Park Ave (gave it to my bro, drive an 04 Malibu Maxx) I always tried/try to keep my cars clean, clutterless, washed, detailed, and I almost ALWAYS use that tire shiner that makes it really black and slick (aka Car Wax for tires) whenever I clean my car in the spring, summer, fall. (I live in MI, no need in the winter
) And I always talk up the specs of GM cars and for instance when toyohondalexusacura OVER-RATED their engines by as much as 20hp under new SAE testing I posted the article from detnews.com in my dorm and someone actually read and wrote on it "oooh Bad Toyota" LOL. In december I plan on ordering a Vic Red Cobalt SS-S/C with G85 (recaros and LSD), Sunroof, and Dual Stage Airbags. Its soooo quality and I talk it up all the time. Even if my best friend is a Si lover Civic...erg. Anyways GO GM! Standard of the World, working hard to bring it back. Everyday...Always.

Re: Rallying to GM's Side in Dark Times: What can we do?
I have to say that even though I am a huge GM fan they lost me recently. I bought a 06 Mazda 3(only because Ford owns them) but I wanted a GM car. However all GM dealers save Cadillac treat you like you are...trash or just another walk-in. Plus when you get to shopping in the under 15K relm GM is not the hottest thing going.
I do however still show my pride when driving my CTS but it is showing its age and I will be looking for 1 nice car in the 35K range next year. I think by then I will have a lot of good options from GM. |

Re: Rallying to GM's Side in Dark Times: What can we do?
A friend was asking about what hot cars he can get for under 25k and I the first thing out my mouth was "Cadillac CTS." He was like, "I love those cars, but people tell me the quality isn't good." I backed up Cadillac's award winning quality with stats and he was sold.

Good commentary Ming. Happy to report over the weekend my sister just purchased a Trailblazer EXT over a Honda Pilot. Always try at least encourage comparison shopping, you never know.

Re: Rallying to GM's Side in Dark Times: What can we do?
I'm fortunate in that I have an '05 CTS. It's finished in a color called Moonstone, which was only available in '05. It's a dark metallic graphite and has bright-finish wheels The combination looks wonderful. So, I keep it as clean as possible at all times (which is a challenge in Seattle). The car is its own billboard. I rave about it when I'm asked by folks, which is often. In fact, I have a client who went out and got a CTS. She told me she did so because I liked mine so much. That was 5 months ago. She happily reported to me yesterday, that a friend of hers liked the one she had so much, he went out and got one of his own. These are people who had never had a GM car in thier lives. Anyway, I've got two converts to my credit, and that's just the ones I know about. Who knows how many of the admiring looks the car gets from others became sales?
