You want the honest truth? They're worried and they want to see what we're up to. Other then that it's to stir things up, bring down morale..etc.

Re: NSAP Rants: New Silverado Opinions

Right on, NSAP! People, people, don't seem to get there will be a lot of options, styles, colors, body types, etc. Some people complained about the hood gap or the gray handles, instead of thinking, well the hood could be opened, or that body colored or chrome handles are options on the CURRENT truck, and will be undoubtably carried over.

To tell you the truth, I reserve final judgement on anything once I see it in person, because pictures DON'T tell the whole story. I think the Tahoe looks terrible in pictures, as does many shots of the Camaro, but after seeing and (in the case of the Tahoe) sitting in it, I fell in love with the character of both vehicles, as did many people here.

But, as I digress, there will always be the Ford boys trying to get into our heads, just like we try to do, there will always be the import fanboys doing the same, and there are plenty of GM fans sitting around with nothing to do (like me :-) commenting on how good the design looks. Once people get to see this in person, I have a feeling that opinions will change, most for the better, some because they found a style they liked, or saw the lines and the character in person, and fell in love. Since GMT-900 sales are up 40% so far this year, I think I'll give Mr. Bob Lutz a little break here. After all, he was heavily into designing the Ram, which continues to be a huge seller for Dodge.

Re: NSAP Rants: New Silverado Opinions

People on GMI forums bash, praise and make predictions about new cars base on one or two pictures ALL THE TIME. I don't see why the Silverado should get a free pass.

If people bash it, then let them bash it. If they praise it, then why not? Why should the Silverado be protected from GMI forums' "normal" behavior?

Re: NSAP Rants: New Silverado Opinions

The design of the grill and the rest of the truck will NOT change, you may get a body coloured grill or whatever but the truck is still ugly. The front fenders looks like they came off a titan and the box looks like it was stolen from the new dakota. It's a total mismash of everyone else's designs...

A body colour grill is not going to change the fact the truck is still ugly.

Will it sell? of course but every ford and chevy truck sells well.

Plus the truck in the pics looks to be a LT z71 4x4 and it's ugly.... The front end looks like it's 6 inches off the ground for god sake, isn't this suppose to be a z71??? This is quite a higher up model not some pos work truck surprise.... Every truck is going to have the ugly box and fenders. It's not going to change much from this so everyone hoping this is only for this model, don't kid yourself.

People here are predicting sales because this site LOVES to do that sorta thing11..... Double standard anyone?
People constantly predicted the Fusion and cd3 triplets would BOMB but look now the fusion sells more in a month then GM sells Malibu's...

People here are quite quick to defend the general but other people cannot defend their own?

Take the good criticism with the bad and move on.... I will remember this thread when i defend some ford product in the future.

First time seeing naked pics of this truck. It's ok, nothing speacial or new at all. The hood not being completely closed doesn't change things; it still has the same appearance.

Tough times are ahead. A brand new car is not in the cards. My new (to me) 16 year old Accord serves the purpose extremely well. And it's paid off!

I agree. If it were any other product *cough* import *cough*, this subject wouldn't see the light of day.

Looks to me like someone can't handle criticism.

No! You're on a GM site, and one of the most important and anticipated vehicles to come out this year has been leaked, and we're darn excited about it! Can you not believe that some people might actually like the look of this truck?!?

I'm kinda psyched that, in the span of a few hours, some people are already saying it's growing on them. I really think there's alot to be said for the intrigue factor, and this truck will have people coming back for a second and third look, whereas a less offensive design might be more easily forgotten.

People are still surprised by this?!? You'll truly be shocked if, upon the Tundra introduction, NSAP doesn't post a similar letter?

Branden, can you make the headline of this website bigger? I don't think anyone can see it.

What are the YTD sales of the Fusion again? Less than the G6's sales? Less than Impala? Less than, oh my gosh, the Malibu? How's Focus sales doing compared to Cobalt? What about 500 or Taurus against Impala? Not so good, huh. This is the same BS you tried to feed us for every other model launch. You know what? GM has succeeded on EVERY one lately. Can't say the same about Ford, considering the Mustang and the F150 have been the only hits since 2004. Just about everything else failed. Do I smell..........fear of GM?

Re: NSAP Rants: New Silverado Opinions

You just did the same with the Fusion, because you like it, and it's a Ford. I'm glad there are some GM fans that really like this truck, and feel like defending it. That's some of that untangible goodwill that a manufacturer can't fabricate. It's there or it isn't. It's interesting to hear what people think, but don't be shocked when your personal dose of 'reality' doesn't make everyone jump for joy.
