Re: NSAP Rants: New Silverado Opinions

I think a few minor changes could make it look much better.

1. Better wheels
2. Body color matched front bumper
3. Lose the roof rack and kill the person who came up with that idea

One thing I do love is the headlights, they look great.

Things that will be rectified by going to a different trim level.

I really hope so, maybe this is Chevy's version of the F150 STX.

Personally I think both the Ram and the F150 look a lot better and I am dissapointed with what I have seen of the new Silverado in the pictures. However, me pointing out that I don't like the way it looks is not me starting trouble on the boards...it is me as a GM fan being upset and frustrated by what I am seeing.

It seems to me that GM is having problems with both financials and with some of their vehicles over the past 5 years. Gm doesn't need "more of the same" or people cheerleading their designs. They need better vehicles. If something isn't up to modern standards, we should be talking about it.
I have always been the outcast in my family for being a GM fan. This truck is just okay, but I am disappointed because I know GM is capable of delivering an absolute knockout! How could the same company that just gave us possibly the best full- sized SUVs ever produce something so uninspiring and derivative of some of the competition. I understand that it is not a final production item, but it you can get a pretty good idea of it from this prototype.

Yes, don't worry. It'll all work out; I'm sure of it.

Is there anything you can see in those two spy-shots of a single pre-production truck that indicates the new GMT-900 Silverado/Sierra line-up won't be up to modern standards?

Design is mainly artistic and thus completely subjective. I personally like the overall look of this truck, and think it is more modern looking than the 800's. There are details that IMHO could be better, but full-size pickups offer a huge number of trim-levels and configurations, so I'm not going to base my entire opinion on how the truck will sell on two spy-shots. My point is that this is only my opinion, and I am not at all interested in convincing anyone that my opinion is "more right" than theirs.

EDIT: I can't wait to see the GMC Sierra. IMO, the Sierra has always had a little bit more conservative styling than the Silverado. Also, I wonder if the HD trucks will look significantly different than the 1/2 tons.

My problem is with your last part, just because you dont like the way the truck looks doesnt make it ugly. Its only when a large amount of people get together and agree that the truck is ugly that its ugly and Im starting to fall in love with this truck.

But I also like the new F-150 and the Nissan Titan as well as the current Silverado.

Re: NSAP Rants: New Silverado Opinions

I've talked to someone in the "inside" and he says that there are FIVE (5) pictures of this Silverado, from what I've seen, I have only seen three to surface on the internet. I wonder how the other two look.

Here are the three.

I don’t like it. The front bumper looks like a copy of the Tundra’s.

Re: NSAP Rants: New Silverado Opinions

I find it hilarious that someone with a piece of crap 88 ranger is trashing the new silverado. Atleast this is a new design, not the same design for 15 years of a small worthless truck.

On a side note, my dad owns an 05 sierra z71 and i showed him the next silv, and he liked it and said thank god they changed the headlights. Ya see GM, another potential leasee when the new silv comes out.

Well, if that's what his eyes sees, then so be it! That's why we have choices, and people make the world go round! I don't expect the next person to see what I see and vice versa. You can't tell another person what they do and don't see or can and can't see. It is a matter of personal taste, and it should be welcomed. Most of what I've read about the new Silverado that have been considered by some negative are expressions of opinions and personal taste. I've got a lot of love for GM and always will, but I'm still going to express what I feel.

Okay, so today we got our first glimpse of the upcoming all-new Silverado. Like with everything else, everyone had an opinion of the design; good and bad.

Let’s get one thing straight here; we have seen pictures of ONE truck. \

To those of you who think the new Silverado is “fugly” and uses too much chrome, I say this; wait UNTIL YOU SEE MORE TRIM LEVELS! \
Long story short, keep your sales predictions to yourself until we see more of a product. No one cares what you think when you say “Oh, Ford doesn’t need to worry now!” That’s a dumb thing to say when we have seen a few pictures of one truck.

I respect your opinion, but its overly apologetic. This truck is a disapointment. The styling is incredibly feminine. Only the most blinded GM fans could possible admit that its an improvement over the more masculine current design.

I expect to be equally disapointed in the powertrain department. While Toyota pushes to 6 speed autos across the board, GM may very well stick with its 4 speed dinosaurs.
