Re: New GM 100 Days: Time Line
In the process losing many people who had long been GM loyalist among domestic only buyers. My family used to be split between GM and Ford. MAny will never return to the GM brand because of Pontiac
I know it seems so insignificant... But its true. because GM and Chrysler dropped the ball the Americans once again lose market share to the Japapnese and the rest of the world.

Maybe you should quit generalizing about the people on the board and start making points that make sense. 1. RWD vs FWD - there are advantages to each, and neither is perfect. Both have a place in the lineup, but there are extremists either way who refuse to acknowledge that. For performance vehicles, 80+ years of trial and error has successfully proven that RWD or RWD-biased AWD is the way to go. 2. I'm young, successful, married, have a family, and would love to own a Camaro SS with the 2SS and RS packages. My wife and I are waiting to order until we see the convertible to decide which we want. 3. The seats in the Camaro are definitely more supportive with bigger side and hip bolsters than the seats in a HUMMER. I haven't ridden in the HMMWV (HUMVEE) as it is a military only vehicle, but I'm assuming it doesn't have highly bolstered sport seats. If it does, then way to go US Army. 4. I have plenty of friends who drive BMWs, Audis, Lexus, and Infiniti and aren't a**holes. Quit stereotyping people based on what brand of car they drive. Different strokes for different folks. 5. Much of the "bloat" in today's cars is due to the wonderful folks at the IIHS and NHTSA who decided that surviving a crash was a little more important than fuel economy. Don't believe me? Google "1959 Chevy Bel Air vs 2009 Chevy Malibu" and "crash test". The extra weight and "bloat" is the high-strength structural steel, dual front and side-curtain airbags, reinforced doors for side impact protection, roof reinforcements, upgraded suspension so that you aren't driving a barge, and larger wheels and tires for better grip and stability. Quite honestly, GM has a long way to go before they are a successful company again. The vehicles they are bringing out now are competitive, which is a change from the last 30 years. GM needs to continue to improve to truly become world-class again, but denying how far they've come and how good the current offerings are vs the competition is just as ignorant as the trolls who scream at the top of their lungs that GM is perfect and can do no wrong. |
