Re: July's Concept Of the Month: Buick Centieme

In one of those rare instances, the production vehicle ended up looking so much better than the concept. Actually, I can't think of any other production vehicle that did end up looking better than the concept. Does anybody know of any others?

Ditto on all accounts... except I'm not exactly 33.

Re: July's Concept Of the Month: Buick Centieme

i remember when this concept came out, and at the time it was the SUV Buick needed to build. you can definitely see a little Centieme in the Enclave, but even the production Enclave is a much better looking vehicle. one thing that has bothered me about Buick throughout the 2000s has been their concepts. they've have so many great concepts, the Bengal, the LaCrosse, the Velite, and more but outside of the Enclave, their actual product line has been a yawnfest.

This is one of the few times the finished product actually looks better than the concept.

Re: July's Concept Of the Month: Buick Centieme

For the most part I like the Enclave better.

The only thing I like about the the Centiemme better is its front clip. The Enclave's front end seems kind of 'busy' and 'heavy' compared to the Centiemme.

Re: July's Concept Of the Month: Buick Centieme

Very good choice for concept of the month, since the Enclave is just hitting the streets. I haven't seen any in Houston yet (we by-far seem to be the slowest in getting new GM vehicles, not unless they are the trucks are big SUVs). But I saw two Enclaves (one white and the other in that maroon) in my 5-day trip in Chicago. They were definitely sharp and stood out from the other vehicles on the road.

Re: July's Concept Of the Month: Buick Centieme

The Enclave definatly looks better. But they should have kept the TT V6 and electric folding seats. The thing needs at least another 25 HP or Jenny Craig...

Re: July's Concept Of the Month: Buick Centieme

The Centienne sure took the Velite design language in all the right areas to become the Enclave... which is ultimately far superior in styling to the Centienne.

Re: July's Concept Of the Month: Buick Centieme

I wish they had kept the proportions of the concept .. a sleeker, lower/longer body .. not as tall as the labdas ..

but I guess the lambdas are easier to swallow for the average Joe Consumer .. they look more like "rounded off" SUV's

Re: July's Concept Of the Month: Buick Centieme

This concept and the way it trickled down into production has to be the best GM ever done. Usually production cars are watered down versions of an earlier concept, not with the Enclave.
They should make a hotrod version of the Enclave with the same powertrain as the concept, it had 300hp right? They can get this now without the need of force induction, and 300hp nowadays isn't anything special. They should put a turbo and give it 400hp.

Re: July's Concept Of the Month: Buick Centieme

I was surprised last night to see an Enclave commercial, well-executed, visually lush, touting a new era for Buick, initially showing only close ups of interior, then interactive headlights and other features, then ends with a full view of the Enclave, and unless I missed something, not once did it say "Buick Enclave" ! Why go to the trouble to design and build the car and tout it as Buick's resurrection, buy the commercial time in prime time, then NOT say the name? Baffling.

So this vehicle is about the size of a Vue right?
