Re: GMI Public Service Announcement: Pre-Production Cars

A few more points:

A lot of people ask: What is that big red button for? This is an Emergency stop in case the unexpected happens. It is for prototypes only.

There are sometimes lots of extra wires and tubes attached for measurements.

There is usually a mount for a laptop that all those extra wires connect to.

A lot of time, the production material is not available, so substitute materials are used such as harder plastics on interior panels.

Those "crazy paint schemes" and covers are there to conceal the designs from photographers. The random patterns make it hard to discern details in pictures.

Note to the mods: you may want to start a FAQ page on this stuff.

Love those buttons. Good way to mess with a co-worker who is about to move a car is to hit the button tuck it in the center console and walk away...

Re: GMI Public Service Announcement: Pre-Production Cars

It;s a shame that something like this has to be mentioned. Have people become so dumb as to not understand what a preproduction car is?. Some are complaining about the orange peel of the paint, others the trailer hitch, and some other dopes are whining about the headlights. When will one of these loud moths just stop and think before they get up and post the first bit of drivel that pops up in their walnut sized minds.

LOL, I go on that same rant everytime. I would have said ESPECIALLY exterior lighting. Even integration vehicles rarely have production headlights. Interior pieces generally just don't have the final texture on IVs.

What's even more sad is the fact that we have to have a sign in our restroom that says please flush everytime.

Re: GMI Public Service Announcement: Pre-Production Cars

OK OK so let me get this right. Those aren't the production headlights? (j/k) Anywho..I know this car will get the concepts headlights, those 2 little lights hidden in the grill look like they may be part of the package as running lights. I know the grill is incomplete, but they look more production ready then those nicely tacked on Pep-Boys fog lights.

Re: GMI Public Service Announcement: Pre-Production Cars

I hate to say it, but this was sorta common sense. I don't think I've ever seen a spy shot of a preproduction car that looked exactly like the actual production car.

What I don't get is why GM is like that? Why not use the mesh camo like Chrysler does for the exterior lighting.

Texture on the interior is the LAST thing that happens but it sounds like GM does it later in the process than Chrysler as well.

it's pronounced come-air-oh ... i've heard it pronounced come-are-oh by some GM execs a while back when the 5thgen production announcement video was out..

just more catering to the idiots.... why does everything have to be explained? why can't we all just accept the fact that some people are going to make retarded comments and make fun of them when they do?
