Still, this is the type of car Chevrolet should be making. This is the type of styling and attention to detail and engineering EVERY Chevrolet should be sporting.

Chevrolet is not cheap Korean penalty boxes, wrong-wheel drive rental quality Impalas, big bland trucks or Japanese Toyota knock-off Malibus. Chevrolet is as proud and mainstream an American brand as Ford and like baseball and apple pie it must be distinctly American.

That has to be reflect in the interior and exterior styling as well as the driving dynamics of every Chevrolet. The Camaro (and Corvette) should be used as a benchmarket for all future products, but sadly it probably won't be.

PREACH IT TriShield!!

i don't know where u get your info but i can tell ya that even in 1995 in Atlanta GA i was filling my 1966 Bonneville coupe with sub 70cent gas. the south usually kills the north in cheap gas prices.

I'm OK with that. I'd like to see the return of Yenko style Camaro's. Hopped up by the little guy, and WAY faster then what GM will do. CAFE be Damned!

When I was young I would have died for a Z28 Camaro but could not afford one - GI with little money then college kid with no money. Now I can afford one but I'm no longer young .... a beautiful car!

Not having the money is pretty good incentive to not buy it.

That said, if I DID have the money--give me the V6 with a manual and an MP3-capable stereo in Imperial Blue and I'll be a very happy person indeed.

Hopefully your source is correct. I'd still like to see a " top dog" Z28 model.

Re: GMI First Look: 2010 Camaro

GM really knocked this one out of the park. They stayed totally true to the concept styling. The engine options meet the highest expectations. Manuals on all trim levels. The interior looks top notch for a car in this class, and for once no reviewers will knock a Chevy for having a "partsbin" interior.

Some people are kvetching about the size/weight of the car, but otherwise there is very little to complain about.

Where are you guys?
I'm right here, saving my pennies and thanking GM for offering up some top shelf hardware! One six-speed manual in 2010, please!

Actually, I could use a four door. That's why I'm complaining about the G8 not having a six-speed manual with the V6. And hurry up with the DI V6 for G8, too.

I wonder how many people are actually considering a V6 now that GM decided to give us a great one with a 6M/6A even though they would not have considered a V6 in a Camaro ever before.
It's a dilemma, for sure. I've owned two Z28's in my time, and if I get a Camaro, I would be very interested in the SS V8. But at $4 a gallon, I have a hard time justifying it. A 300hp V6 ought to be fast enough. But then again, can anything really be fast enough?

I hate retro interiors.....

I like a nice muscular muscle-car body, but give me a modern interior.

Not horrible, but I want it ta look like my good ol' 1987 IROC!

There was not a dang thing ugly about the 1993 to 2002 Camaros neither!

Ta me, a Camaro will always be a long, low, sleek hatchback!

Re: GMI First Look: 2010 Camaro

For the first time I am seriously considering a Camaro...

V6, RS, staggered wheels, 6 Speed. Then I can modify it at will, and turbo it when software become available!

Edit. Now the other cool thing is, Where the G35 Coupes will be faster likley but not nessicarily, the Camaro will respond VERY well to mods, whereas the G35 coupes intake and exhausts are very much maxed out in terms of performance.

Gee maybe Chevy should forget everything about the Z/28 (whether or not it will exist) and call it a Z/29, since it will be an even better car!!!!!

Re: GMI First Look: 2010 Camaro

Going for huge HP in a Z/28 is the wrong direction IMHO. I'd be happy with the same HP as an SS, but with less creature comforts and some measures taken to make it lighter/handle better. No one is saying it should be sub 3000lbs or anything, but getting it down to 3500 would be a big improvement.

I love it and will probably get one, but I really was hoping that it would be a little lighter. I want to autocross it, but as of now I'm doubting whether it'll be competitive with the Mustangs.

I'm curious, what are gas prices where you are now?

Every time gas prices come up on the news it always notes that NJ has generally alway had the lowest prices in the nation due to their low gas tax.

On a quick search here's an older list of gas prices- http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lists/gasprices/

Somehow it says at the top that Missouri has the lowest, but if you check out the list it's not even in the bottom 5. NJ is the cheapest.
