Re: Do you care? Then Take Action!

EVERYONE CALM DOWN!!! This is not a take over, or merger. It is an alliance. A similar alliance GM had with Fiat, Isuzu, Suzuki, Subaru, etc and no one b!tched about it. They did it with Chrysler and BMW to develop hybrids and no one b!tched. GM is not going un-American (yet anyways). It seems that they're going to share parts to get costs down. You can get a part for cheaper if you order a million than if you're just ordering a thousand. Everyone just needs to stop jumping the gun and calm down to understand exactly what is happening. It's not like they're buying a controlling stake in the company. It's just too early to start panicing.

If you're right, then this entire thing isn't a big deal to me. If you're wrong and it does end up being like everyone's making it out to be, I'll lose all faith in GM.

It IS a big deal. Trust me, and do something about it. There will be next to nothing in benefits for GM to come out of this deal, but quite the lot of them for Nissan/Renault.

The trucks Isuzu helped GM with are the worst trucks GM has. Isuzu has been a worthless alliance and Im glad they're gone.

I've heard 30% between Kerkorian, and Nissan/Renault. You're totally right that IS a big deal. We've never had something happen like this before.

On the contrary, if you go to Nissan fan sites, many guys there are scared that GM would pull Nissan down because GM as a company has so many problems (negative press, profits/money, union, technology, product reputation, etc). They think Nissan would get very little out of it other than a bad name for associating with GM. Nissan is in recovery mode as well. It doesn't need the baggages GM carries.

What GM and Nissan have in common is that they are both currently recovering from the mistakes they made in the 80's and the 90's. They don't need each other to mess up each other's progress... but then maybe two wrongs make a right...?

I sent a message. Now what? What can we do to oust this leach from the board and the rest of the brainless, spinless, clueless, traitors that would even give him an audience.

Re: Do you care? Then Take Action!

To Whom it may concern at General Motors,

I have been a satisfied GM owner, and proud that I own an American vehicle. I was planning on buying a Pontiac Solstice GXP in 2007. Should the board decide to give 20% of stock to Renault/Nissan as part of this alliance, I will no longer be interested in purchasing ANY General Motors vehicle whatsoever. It would be a terrible decision, and many of your loyal customers such as myself are offended at the very thought of using any Nissan "garbage" in a future GM vehicle. If I wanted a Nissan, I would buy one, but I don't! I want a GM vehicle that uses GM's existing global technology, not Nissan/Renault's. I'm sickened at the thought of a foreign company having a significant amount of control in GM. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT SELL THAT 20%. If you do, you risk losing your diehard supporters who are interested in buying your new vehicles. I understand the company needs cash, but Give Bob Lutz & Rick Wagoneer time work their magic in turning the company around to be profitable. This is not the answer to GM's problems, and it will only make the situation worse.

Respectfully Yours,

Mike K.

I hope GM get's my message...

Re: Do you care? Then Take Action!

I doubt GM will have any problem selling all the Solstice GXPs it makes, regardless of the outcome of this situation.

Re: Do you care? Then Take Action!

I understand this is a big deal. It is just not the big hostile takeover that will erase GM as an American company. They aren't losing control to Renault/Nissan. While I'm not for it as I think GM is in a good situation right now with the Lambdas, 900s, etc coming out, I do not believe it is a reason to just abandon GM completely. Where you gonna go Ford? Hahaha, and buy which one of their amazing cars...the Crown Vic, Ranger, Focus, the list goes on and on. All they have is a truck and a muscle car that might be worth buying.

Okay. Can you explain to me exactly what this means so I can have a better understanding of the situation?

GM's engines, expertise, marketing, entrance into markets across the globe. There's no synergies.
