Re: The Definitive GM Performance Car List 1986-200x

More info on the Mantapart race cars. They're a bit obscure and minor, so I'm saving the info and photos here in case the web loses it or Mantapart ends up selling them off (currently for sale):

Source:http://www.mantapart.com/misc.html

Pontiac GrandAm GT Coupe Racecar- Great SCCA ITS or world challenge car. This 92 chassis has all the factory racing parts developed on the Olds Achieva IMSA cars. Bilsteins, 34mm frt. swaybar camber plates w/coil overs and regular frt. spring set ups, adjustable tubular rear swaybar, HD axle bearing mod, 9" rear drums and disk conversion. Car has an SCCA legal roll bar, but needs to be caged for serious competition use. This is NOT a street legal car, for racing only. We will partially support the efforts of a serious buyer who will put the car on the track, Inquire for prices.

Pontiac Sunfire 4 Dr. Touring Car Racecar: This was our prototype development car for the NATCC, This 4 door Sunfire has an extensive roll cage, the suspension is completely coil-over Bilsteins, adjustable swaybars, Vette 13" brakes and HD wheel bearings and hubs. This car has great potential for a number of racing classes.

Nice!! You can put the hurt on an LT1 Corvette w/ that thing. That is the only 3rd gen F-Body I've ever wanted too own.

Re: The Definitive GM Performance Car List 1986-200x

You forgot the 1986 LeSabre Grand National (the regal wasn't the only GN)
and it's successor the LeSabre T-Type. Also deserving to be on there is the 1986 Buick Century Grand Sport.

Re: The Definitive GM Performance Car List 1986-200x

You've got a 5th gen Grand Am on this list (an 03 GT SC/T) but no 3rd or 4th gens.

So perhaps add a 1989 Grand AM SE with HO Quad 4. (Good pictures at link, the guy incorrectly labels it a 1992)
http://www.auto-zimmerli.ch/_auto/0000003a.htm

For, the 4th gen (1992-98) GT. The best performing would be a 1992 GT with a HO Quad 4 and a 5 speed, although the 3.1 is a much nicer engine. 3.1 power was used in the 1994-98s with only a four speed auto. http://images.consumerguide.com/auto...9171990515.JPG

Will do, 87Aero - good calls. High output DOHC 4-cyl. with a manual transmission in a FWD "midsize" GM coupe - rare find.

Ok. Monte SS V8- I have seen like 2. Since they are being cut from the Chevy line, I see it being a collectors item. Nox Sport- 3.6 and 6 speed. 0-60 in about 6 seconds? Baby TB SS.

Can I suggest you change the Park Avenue Ultra to the '96 which I believe had the 240 HP S/C 3800 instead of the 205 HP.

Done, thanks for the suggestion, 1969. Fills in a gap in time as well, nice.

Re: The Definitive GM Performance Car List 1986-2006

You will find the 1987 Buick GNX on Gran Turismo 4 for the PS2 and Forza Motorsport (Xbox) and Forza Motorsport 2 (Xbox 360), The Callaway Sledgehammer on Project Gotham Racing 3 (Xbox 360), the Vauxhall Astra is on Forza 2, and the Holden Efijy (sp) just becam available as a download from Xbox Live for Test Drive Unlimited (Xbox 360), they are out there (not all of them of course) but keep looking.

Oh yah you can find the 04 GTO just about anywhere but tragically no 06 or newer with the LS2, hood scoops and dual exaust (except maybe Need for Speed Carbon which) just the LS1, 4 gen Z28's are fairly common and NFS Carbon for the 360 even has gen 5, and Midnight Club 3 for all systems even has a 78 Monte Carlo, and a 96 Impala SS.

Re: The Definitive GM Performance Car List 1986-2006

Some others: 1996 R&S/Oldsmobile WSC, the car that beat the Ferrari 333 SP:

And I can't believe you included the Celebrity VR, but not the 1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 that set 7 International and 3 World endurance records.

And the Oldsmobile Aerotech that in 1992 set 47 international, world, and American endurance records, including averaging 170mph for 10,000 km's, and 158mph for 25,000 km's (over 8 days)
