Re: 2007 G6 Sedan: Pontiac Listened

Out of all those pics. you posted Mags, I like the G6 the best. The center stack on the G6 could use some work though, but I still like it.

Aveo & G6 were the nicest. The 03 Corolla looked like crap.

I got bashed on a Saturn board for saying I thought the Aveo's interior (black) ran circles around the Aura's. I'm guessing most of these people haven't even seen the Aveo's interior in person. The finish is tight and the materials flow together. It doesn't look cheap, it's not 5 different colors, and it doesn't look like it's thrown together with random pieces.

I could settle for the Aura's interior but the door panels were a deal breaker. No way I could pay $25k for a car with door panels like that.

I lost a sale on those panels with the brown leather. The potential customer loved the black leather, but refused to own black because of the heat in the summer and cloth was below him.

What the hell are you talking about? As an owner of a vehicle with one of the said "unreliable" engines, you don't know what you're talking about. Any engine based off the 2.8/3.1 will run until they die...they are resilient! All the 60* V6 engines GM created are that way. The only "true problems" were the 3100 (L82) and 3400 (LA1) with faulty intake gaskets. GM revised the design, and now there's no more problems if it were dealt with appropriately. Other than that, the 60* V6 family isn't known to have any problems.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, Mags. I think that I deliver fairly objective judgments of cars, regardless of make or nationality, and I truly don't see anything that catchy about the Toyota interior. The Honda was nice, but that's the Civic. The Civic is not in the same competitive class as the Aveo, so don't compare apples to oranges.

Kind of true, kind of not. My mom's 2001 Malibu with the 3.1 V6 recently had that intake manifold gasket replaced. If you do some research on the web, you'll see those 3100 and 3400 engines had troubles with that gasket for YEARS! If it's fixed now, great. But a fix for something that simple shouldn't take years to fix.

As for older engines in that family, we had two Celebrities in our family back in the late 80's, and one needed a complete rebuild at around 70,000 miles. That engine family was never as reliable as the 3800 Buick engine.

Not all of them. That Corolla is screaming "designed in 1985". The rest look nice though, especially the Aveo and the Versa.

I'm not a fan of the Yaris interior either, so I'll give you that one, plus anything with a center mount gauge setup deserves death.

Let's play the game though. Some cheaper competition-

Civic (amusingly available with nav while the G6 is not)

Corolla

Aveo

What's most funny is that each of these mops the floor with THIS-

...

At a much cheaper price point. A comparison to ACTUAL competitors would just be embarassing.

MF
the corolla has a ugly interior
