You are right the reduced fuel economy (10%) is a shame. That hyraulic steering must be a real dog to reduce it that much.
EPS, according to Chevy, saves the Epsilon-bodied Malibu an average of 0.8 mpg.

The 2006 G6 GT was rated at 20/29, due to its shorter final drive, which it now shares with the 2007 G6 Sedan/Sport Package. As I mentioned before, I doubt it makes that much difference in real-world mpg.

It's only a shame because the numbers on the window sticker will cost Pontiac sales, when the rest of the car would just as easily gain sales, assuming that anyone else actually reviewed this car.

I don't think we do. I think the G6 should be a V6 only car (like the Aura) especially because it has the G5 below it.

Leave the budget 4 banger for Chevy.
ummm, 4 cylinder camcord/altima/sonata fighter ring a bell!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Mazda6??????

Five years of writing on GMI, and the ensuing pages of rabid knee-jerk responses, along with the cast of willing mis-participants, have often left me with a similar attitude.

I spend days tweaking these articles in order to address particular concerns that might arise, heading off as many of the knee-jerk reactions as possible, and trying to be as clear as I possibly can. Something will inevitably still come up, regardless of what I write, and that's where the slightly flippant disclamer came in.

It's my equivalent of Jim Rome saying, "Make sure your takes do not suck," or, "It was only a matter of time before one of you boneheads brought that up." Of course, when it comes to The Jungle, I'm often one of the boneheads that thinks of that exact crap, so I'm not offended when Rome refers to me as a bonehead.

Finally, I poke as much fun at myself as at The Reader. Most of us are goofballs who are a little not-quite-right in the head to be spending as much time on GMI as we do.

At any rate, no harm intended. During my writing time, if I think of something I think is funny, I'm still going to put it in. Sometimes I'll take it out, but usually I'll try to find a way to work it in and give The Reader the authority to decide if it's good or not.

dude i love Romie and i tried to listen to him as much as possible when i was living in ottawa. unfortunatly i moved out of there and back home to timmins. the biggest thing that i miss is listening to him, im gonna have to get his shoes pod casted or something. i take Rome with a grain of salt. i dont take offence to what he says although there are some people in the jungle that really seem to be total bone heads and i can understand when he gets frustrated about things like canada v. u.s. things like that take away from the show and it also irritates me because hes got to deal with this whole b.s. when clones make crap up like "hey america junior dont me us come up there"
it lame to the farthest extent.

there where a few times that i wanted to call, and the last time i wanted to call was when i moved and they where talking about Romney Oaks, the cancer kid that got screwed by that **************** head coach. just wanted to say that romney is already a smarter man than this infectious human waste of a coach will ever be since hes started to save for a bat and is gone to practice his swing and hitting baseballs.

anyways i really wish i could listen to the jungle tomorow so i could hear the latest saga of the T.O. drama. the supposed suicide attempt. if its just a PR stunt well hes in the news and if it is what he says it is, its a damn good PR stunt to be in the news again.

out.

Re: 2007 G6 Sedan: Pontiac Listened

btw what is with the yellowish tint to the G5 coupe headlights? I drove by a Pontiac dealer the other day and saw one and the headlights were different then the Cobalt. Also the G5 doesn't come standard w/ high vent steelies like the Cobalt has this year. Looks tragic.

In 2007, the G6 Sedan/Sport Package gets the GT’s performance ratio, which I’m not really sure is necessary. I’m also not sure that it makes much of a difference beyond EPA estimates, but the lower mileage numbers on the window sticker will cost the G6 some sales.
Actually, that 32 mpg highway for the 2006 G6 was for the four banger. The V6 was rated at 29 highway, compared to 28 for the 2007 model.

Checking out Pontiac.com, the G6 GT should have a tighter suspension than the G6 Sport Package. The Sport Package buys you the better steering, nicer wheels, and a few other bits, but doesn't include the sport suspension of the GT/GTP. I would definitely expect the GT to handle and corner better than the non-GT, and would be sorely disappointed if it didn't.

The 2006 4-cylinders were rated at 34 mpg highway (yes, better than the 4-speed Cobalt/G5). The 2007 4-cylinder G6's are rated at 33. The only 2007 3.5L G6 rated at 28 hwy is the convertible, which is, oddly enough, 1 mpg better than the 2006 3.5L convertible. Like it matters all that much.

The 2006 G6 "V6" was rated at 32 highway, the same as the 3.5L Chevy Malibu.

As GotAWD said, that's something that's not for sale in the USA.

It does look slightly better than the Cobalt 4 door.

I agree totally, it's what GM has to do to all their car & truck models. Continuous improvement & upgrades eliminates stale vehicles (cars that look the same 8 yrs out) and reduces major makeovers.
