Re: 2006 Most Disappointing

I'd say the Aveo is at least as dissapointing as any Buick but since Buick has dissapointed in more ways than one over the last couple of years I think they should win the prize. The reasons have already been stated so I won't repeat them again.

Re: 2006 Most Disappointing

The only reason that Buick didnt get the vote is a certain beautiful 7 passanger crossover.
Aveo could have been a lot, but wasnt. Silverado as a disappointment? Not really. Tops in power, towing, and gas milage even without a 6spd automatic? Aveo had a lot more to live up too as GMDAT has really moved foward in a lot of ways, but this car is just an utter failure as a subcompact car. It needs some GM Powertrain attention. The 1.6 Ecotec that is in the Astra needs to find its way into the Aveo. Aveo still remains the best selling subcompact, so lets hope that GM is ready to deliver a REAL fighter with the next generation.

I think the CSV's transcend disappointment and are an express train straight to crapdom. I'd vote the Lucerne as the biggest disappointment. Not that it's a bad car, so much that it could have been so much more.
So we are talking about dissapointing new models (not that the CSVs don't dissapoint every year...not worthy of the Chevy badge)...

I'd agree with you. The Lucerne, while a good car, is dissapointing.
a. 3.6L should have been standard equipment
b. Six speed auto should have been out by now.
c. It is a Buick...sorry, but I'd never drive one. It screams AARP.

t best, I can see this nameplate going against the Town Car for livary services. I know their cars are reliable, but I just wouldn't buy one (nor an Avalon, XG350, Amanti, or any other "doctor's patient's car").

After that, I'd have to say the Tahoe was dissapointing to me. It is trying to be a uni-body utility vehicle with a full frame. Improved handling, improved ride, improved interior room, improved fuel economy- ALL at the expense of off road capability and towing capacity. A full frame can't do a uni-body's job and vice versa. Low stance, less towing capacity, and 4 speed autos combined with engines that I think could use another 20horses and 40 lb-ft of torque (at around 2000 rpm).
Chevy needs a uni-body crossover that size for the soccer moms and wannabe gangsters so the Tahoe can do it's job properly as an SUV. Want 20" dubs and stupid grilles or a "comfortable" third row seat? get a CUV. What an SUV that you will never use to tow or go offroading so you can complain on Consumer's Reports about fuel economy? You should be in a CUV- not a Tahoe, Yukon, Trailblazer, 4runner, Pathfinder, Durango, or any real truck. People like that being seen in Tahoes are making SUVs uncool!

That's your opinion. Personally I love the Lucerne, the Lacrosse, and the Enclave. I've been impressed with all of them. I don't mind the 3.8 either. It's not the most powerful or refined engine on the market, but it's bulletproof. I'll take a 3.8 over a Northstar V8 any day of the week. Combine that with Buick's great reliability and quality and you have a high quality luxury car that'll last you a hell of a long time. I've owned two Park Avenues and both have had high miles on them. My current one has 214,000 on it. I'm a Buick fan for life. I love the way they drive, the way they look, and the comfort of them. They might not be the highest tech vehicles on the road or the nicest looking, but I love them for what they are. My next vehicle will be a used Park Avenue, Lacrosse or Lucerne, and hopefully by the time I'm done college and have a few years of work under me, I'll be able to afford an Enclave. I don't plan to own anything other than a Buick. Most people think I'm crazy because I have this opinion, but I don't give a rats ass. I'm probably the only 18 year old that thinks like this.

Re: 2006 Most Disappointing

Buick is a good call. I want to buy a Buick. I want a solid, conservative, handsomely styled car which is what Buick used to be - the doctor's car. The Enclave is a start. The Lucerne is close, but the powertrain disappoints. I'd like to see a 7/8 scale Lucerne as the entry sedan. A RWD sedan to take the Lucerne slot with a slightly more aggressive styling. Then to anchor the lineup, I'd like a RWD sporty coupe with Enclave styling cues. Four cars. That's Buick.

Re: 2006 Most Disappointing

It's clear that GM doesn't want any stand alone Buick dealers any more; as they will only have three vehicles in total by MY 2009, none of which sell enough or provide enough profits to the dealer to sustain one alone. The Buick dealer in my town is actually a Pontiac-GMC-Buick-Cadillac dealer, for example.

Not any more; at this point, it's close to the worst selling vehicle in it's class.

Re: 2006 Most Disappointing

The Aveo is disappointing. How many of you would suggest that car to a friend ? The competition has better fuel economy (Yaris, Fit), is more reliable (Fit, Yaris), handle better (Versa, Fit) and is safer (Yaris, Fit, Accent, Versa). Except for the Versa and the Fit, they have the same price. Worse part, theses car are entry level. For many buyer, they will be the first contact with a brand. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.

Yea, i'd go with the G5 and torrent. Too little power to rightfully but called a Pontiac and whats the difference between them and the equinox and cobalt respectively. Except the bowtie.
