Why is it so hard to have no problems between oil changes?

So I am on the Aura's 3rd filling of oil( 5933 miles, 7700 to the next change) and guess what? Another problem arises and I am partially deaf because of it. Hopefully it is temporary. So anyway, I get in my car and start it up. I turn on my music and all of a sudden the music is just blasting loudly where it hurts my ears. I turn it down. Thinking I might of accidently turned the knob without noticing. I back out and go to the main road. Turn on blinker. The speakers are hissing and the blinker click is loud. So it is now obviously the speakers or the radio. The first 3,000 miles had the TSB's done with the transmission reflash, sunshade rattle, and ticking tach. Then at 4700 miles the parking brake broke. Got it in and they fixed it and changed the oil. So again for the 3rd time I will be bringing it in at 7700 miles for them to fix another problem. BAH! One years old and 4 minor problems. I guess that is what I get for buying first MY and within the first 6 months of production.

You may just have a bad car (as in your car is specifically bad).

I am going to be honest, when you have an electrical problem they usually never go away (regardless of cars manufacturer) because it is HARD to pin down an issue.

Re: Why is it so hard to have no problems between oil changes?

And just like that, the problem is gone........ My dad suggested adjusting where the sound came from to determine if it is a speaker. So I went out to do it and it isn't doing it anymore. All back to normal. So hopefully just a malfunction and it won't happen again because I don't like my ears being nuked with practically full blast of music considering the song when it did this time was Mein Teil by Rammstein. Which is a very loud song.

Either that... or you are losing your mind, in which case it will happen with increasing frequency. When the radio was loud, was it saying anything in particular, like Tundras are good looking, or anything like that?

I had numberous problems with my '06 Vue in the first year, the second year has been much better.....its a luck of the draw I guess. Better now than after the warranty is up, right?

I feel for ya! I will never buy a 1st year production vehicle. That was partially the reason I bought my Silverado when I did. Too bad she's given me more seat time at the dealership then I care to talk about. I guess we're just cursed with good fortune!!

Alight I'll say it. GM isn't doing enough about quality- despite their claims and posts on this board. GM still needs to work on quality!!!

I would still take the Aura over the Camry knowing the Aura's problems and Camry's problems before hand. As I said, these problems are just little glitches. The Camry's are serious. Since it actually requires a brand new transmission and not a reflash. I am also still happy with the Aura. Even with it's glitches. Though if we traded it in right now I wouldn't get an '08 Aura, I would get the G8. Not because the Aura is bad or anything. I just want that RWD!

Re: Why is it so hard to have no problems between oil changes?

I'd also take a Saturn over a Toyota.
But your problems are not unique. Saturn boards are full with Aura problems and we're not talking about enthusiasts who're out there abusing their new cars. Not to mention that the Aura isn't a new car technically. Ok so it's being built at a different plant but still. And the G6 isn't trouble free either, plenty of people at GMI complain about their G6s.
It's almost as if Delta and Epsilon are still part of the old GM. It's inconceivable to me how these platforms that have been around for a while, and will be around for a while are so troublesome.

i disagree with what was said above about electrical issues. most of the time if its diagnosed and fixed right you wont have any problems down the road

You really think that? I don't and I own and Epsilon (trouble free since April '04). I guess that would mean that the Saab 9-3's are bad, not to mention any other brand on that platform in Europe.

In any case there are some that are bad and some that are good in any type of car/or company.

Re: Why is it so hard to have no problems between oil changes?

no the delta and epsilon platforms resemble nothing of old GM. everything on them is mainstream compared to the old outdated junk of last generation vehicles.

only problems you really have with either platform is that they clunk or make noises. which to some is not a big deal, but to others they think the car is falling apart

Re: Why is it so hard to have no problems between oil changes?

The old GM is the W-Body, which has been around for like 20 years or something. Epsilon and delta are quite new in comparison...

Re: Why is it so hard to have no problems between oil changes?

the w car has been around for a long time, but it has had several generations.

worst ones were the first gen.
the platform general design of the chassis hasnt changed much, they have changed alot of the components in the vehicle to be more modern. they have incorporated multiple electronic, and mechanical devices that have revolutionized GM. it may not be the best looking car or the fastest, but it is a long lasting reliable vehicle that will provide years of service for a
relatively small budget.
