Who's in Control ?

I had New tires installed on My '04 K-2500
when the installer advised my of a leaking rear shock
under warranty I thought I.S.D. 06/30/04 now with 23k
and looks like it could go on the showfloor

Take I it to a local Chevy shop and they tell me it's 'SEEPING' and
I ask Service Guy but it's sealed from the factory right ?

NO was the reply 'It's Cheverolets Policy" so I leave and call
Cheverolets Customer Service and was told "It's the dealers call"
OR Take it to another dealer" this is after they scratched my LF fender
thru the Clear Coat, Paint & Primer and put a 2" gouge in my grill gaurd

No wonder Cheverolet and General Motors have lost market share !
when I worked for A chevy dealership in the 80's and 90's we had something called C.S.I. This attitude between the Dealer and Cheverolet
Customer Service is very sad for me.

Thanks I feel better now, And will think twice about any General Motors
Product/Service at replacement time this year.

Loyal Employee,Past Customer.

A replacement of (1) shock and A I'm sorry with a little touch up
and a buff of a grill gaurd all could have been fine.

Very sad to see what has become of Cheverolet and General Motors

So you worked for a Chevrolet dealership for years but you can't even spell Chevrolet right?

Anyone else smell a troll?

Yes, especially with 3 posts and whining about a dealer. Go to any brand specific site and they will complain about the dealers also, even Toyota and Honda, believe it or not.

Eh, I don't know, they should have put a shock on the guys truck. Thats ridiculous, and they get paid to do it. And they damaged his truck to top it all off?

Well, I consider the scratch right down to the paint to be much more harmful than the seeping shock. Considering it will rust at first rain and the shock could last 6 months while just seeping. I'd be far more upset about the paint. Maybe the poor guy is legit and has a problem but things don't seem to add up right.

Re: Who's in Control ?

I can't speak to the troll issue, but I can comment that my dealership service experiences are pretty much the same as "The Enforcer".

In the early 90's when I would take in my Cadillac Allante for warranty service.. more times then not the car would come back with items repaired or updated that I hadn't asked for...

One time I took it in for a sticking door lock motor and it came back fixed... Plus the service tech was not happy with how the top was sealing so he adjusted it... I never mentioned the top..
Super service! Plus the car was always returned fully detailed

14 years later, same dealer... It takes them SEVERAL trips to fix known, and common problems... Parts are never in stock, more often then not wrong parts get ordered... Service advisor, has no knowledge of the cars, how they work or what needs to be done... It is clear that the techs hands are now tied and they can only fix what the Service Advisor writes down...

And now the car is often returned dirtier then it went in... or worse cleaned by a gas station drive through cleaner... As well Service Advisors try their darnedest to decline warranty work and instead push "off warranty" services...

One time I had the service advisor tell me that the car need its suspension serviced due to the "terrible noise" it made when we went for a test drive... Then after the tech found no problem.. She wanted to charge me a $50 diagnostic fee...

So if something was wrong GM would have fixed it for free... Since nothing was wrong I have to pay $50...

The service manager reversed the charge when I pointed out that it was his service advisor that thought the suspension sounded awful...

PS No, I don't want my tranny flushed!

I love GM especially some of their high end "Flag Ship" cars...
The dealers... not so much

Re: Who's in Control ?

I come across service advisors like that all the time, I dont understand how you could do that job without any automotive knowledge. I took my grandfathers Civic in to the local honda dealership after no luck with my guys and it was a woman (no offense, I know some very sharp women advisors) that should have been the cashier instead of an advisor. Obsurd.

Re: Who's in Control ?

Does it matter how many posts the guy has? Sounds to me like this is someone who bought an expensive GM product and was told to F himself when he needed a warranty repair. Sounds like GM just lost another customer next time around.

Gee, isn't this how they went from 50% market share in the past to 24% now?

Which dealership Enforcer - Courtesy, Gateway, Van, Midway? I've heard really bad things about Bill Heard on McDowell in Scottsdale.
