Well the thing is, I had that repaired by the dealer a few years ago. In fact, I think it was a year or two after we bought it. Not sure if they didn't do the job right or the part just wears out easily.

Re: trailblazer anger

'02 and only 45,000 miles, I had that on my '06 Trailblazer within 2 years. Sorry to hear about your tranny problems. On my '00 Cavalier I was a little over 40,000 miles when I had some trouble with it and they took care of it, But then again that was back in '02.

Re: trailblazer anger

Just realized that I never actually replied to the original post...Like everyone else has said, this is in no way Chevy's fault. Your tranny was probably a lemon, everyone comes across one or two in their lifetime. I don't know why you're complaining, once the warranty expires, there's nothing more you can do. GM held its part of the bargain by selling you the car and maintaining it for 3 years/36,000 miles. Now it's up to you to make sure that the car is well cared for and properly maintained. I understand your frustration, but you can't blame Chevy for these problems. A car is full of moving parts, and eventually, they'll wear down. Just because your transmission wore out early doesn't mean that you should ditch the entire brand. If your camshaft had broken, tranny worn out, doors fell off, axles snapped, then maybe you shouldn't buy another Chevy.

You might go back to the dealer. They might replace them for free. Who knows.

I doubt hammer1 applies back. I hope you 199,999 trouble free miles, and you feel like you can take another look at GM when the time comes to replace it.

were you doing your maintenance at the store that sold the trailblazer to you? if so the service manager in most cases has the authority to good will problems like you had, in most cases they would have been able to get gm to pick up at least 1/2 of the repair cost if not all of it. if you are a loyal service customer they should have been willing to go the extra mile for you, if not that is one good reason you should have been using your local dealer especially if he sold it to you.

Re: trailblazer anger

I'm a bit surprised that the dealer didn't look into it more, offer to pay half, but it was off of warranty, what did he expect? And he never said anything about the vehicle being well maintained or not abused or anything. And about the 35K, I'm thinking he's from Canada, but I could be wrong, its just a guess.

Re: trailblazer anger

I feel your pain we had a 2005 Tb EXT we had several engine issues in the morning the gas pedal would go to the floor and the car would not no place and die out. Two weeks after I traded the TB in the engine blew on the new owner (the TB had 40k on it) the dealeship refused to fix it even with enigin problems listed for the 6 times we had it in the shop. I am glad I got rid of my TB.

I have said time and time again, customers know at the time of sale what the terms of the warranty are, and are always offered extended warranties. Things happen, and GM lived up to their end of the deal by protecting it up to 3yr/36k (and now 5yr/100k). I still agree with you that the trans shouldnt have failed, but they can, and do, and you had your chance to protect yourself and didnt take it. Sorry....
I wish the dealerships we have to deal with for my fleet vehicles did that. I have actually had them refuse repairs and the vehicle was only days or weeks out of warranty (going my inservice dates). One particular area is really bad (don't want to say here though, might be just they way they are with the "company" I work for.).

My wifes Mazda had a EGR go bad 5 weeks out of warranty. IT was still well under the mileage though. Mazda covered 1/2 of the cost. Guess that was better then nothing.

Re: trailblazer anger

I had a transmission issue 5 days outside warranty and had a royal battle on my hands. I am glad the dealer backed down as I had absolutely no intention of paying for a transmission (the car was well below the mileage as well). The upside is, as a result of GM's goodwll, I got another GM. I can't understand why more manufacturers don't realize this.

Re: trailblazer anger

Well I have no problems w/ the dealerships when I buy a car. But I have BIG problems w/ them at the service department. Little over a year after I bought my 2005 Trailblazer, engine light came on. My wife took it in on her way to work. They called and told her it needed a head job. I had bought the extended warranty. Then they tried to tell her, oh but we need to check it out to see if maybe someone put something in your gas tank. So she called me. I told her to have the idiot call me. He called me and tried to tell me the same thing. I was like what are you smokin. I had just watched a show of Myth Busters where you can't mess up a car buy putting stuff in the tank because of the fuel filters. Well anyway long story short they had to fly someone in from the mainland ( I live in Hawaii) to check it out, and give the ok to warranty it. He did. Later they told me good thing you had a warrianty, it would have cost you $7000.00 to do a head job. Man I could throw a new engine in my 81 Ford pickup w/ goodies on it for $7000.00 and have change. We've takin it in for other problems, and always the same thing, they fight us tooth and nail. I'm not blaming Chevy, had the same problems w/ Dodge. Man I could write a book on there service dept. But it shouldn't be this way. My wife just drives to work and back, and around town on the weekends. It really make Chevy look bad.

Re: trailblazer anger

Sounds like you just have a sucky service department. The boys over at my Chevy dealer are really helpful and considerate.

Re: trailblazer anger

Wow I am glad that I don't have crappy dealers like you guys. Well I had one that tried to give me problems then I just called that 1-800- Chevy - USA number or whatever it is. Lets just say that dealership tried their hardest to get me to come back. Well I won't go back to them because the dealership I go to treats me right. Maybe that is why I go there for all of my oil changes and repairs. I even went in for work on my Envoy that didn't require a rental. But I had to go to work and the Owner let me use his demo Impala SS to get to work and back to pick up my Envoy the next day.

Re: trailblazer anger

Damn, if I cold find a dealer like that, I'd be a lifer. So far I've been to 3 dealers here in Hawaii, they were awesome, till I hit the service dept. Always the same thing. And I never, I mean never, can let my wife take the truck in. They literally make her cry. I told one guy you know you people are the only ones that can make the hair stand up on my neck. It really takes a lot to piss me off. But these guys do it on a regular bases.

Re: trailblazer anger

Should've got a 4Runner instead. Not only would Toyota have given you a new 4Runner for your old, defective one, they would've re-up'd your warranty.
