My G6

Last week I took my car in to the dealership becuase my left fron tire kept on shaking once in a while. So they rotated and balanced my tires I paid them $39 with taxes. Now when I got my car back on Saturday I get in my car and I notice my steering is awfully tight and my car is pulling to the left as soon as I take my hand off the wheel. So I go back to the dealership wait around for about a hour they tell me my goodyear ls2 18 inch tires are bad. My car only has 20,000 miles on it. I'm the original owner I know the whole history on this car. So they tell me they can replace 1 but I have to buy the another 1. Well I called customer service up and they tell me tire wear is not included in the bumper to bumper waranty and the dealer doesn't even have to pay for 1 tire for me. But I'm just wondering why my car had minor problems now when I get it back now I got major problems.

I think this thread belongs in the Complaint area.

Sounds like an Alignment issue. Have you hit anything recently?

Re: My G6

Call Goodyear and see what they'll do about it, there should be some warranty on the tire from its manufactuer.

Re: My G6

Almost all Goodyear tires have warranties for more than 20,000 miles. BUt I doubt that your tire was fine when you went in, and not it is bad. It sounds like they screwed up your alignment when they rotated your tires. Take your car to a Goodyear dealership and ask them.

Re: My G6

If the car is under warranty all tire issues are handled by the dealer. I dont know what is wrong with it, but if the tread is seperated that should be a warranty issue. Need more details. From what you stated it sounds to me like the LR tire tread was separating, and since it was on the back, all you felt was a vibration. But now that it is up front it is causing a pull. Oh, and you cant screw up the alignment by simply rotating the tires...

Re: My G6

I'm getting so mad and upset. If I don't get my car fixed by the end of the week I'm seriously trading it for another Saturn at least the car runs and if you have a problem they are willing to fix it. Its pretty sad when my 02 Saturn Sc2 coupe is running better than my 06 G6 GTP which I'm the original owner vs the Saturn I wasn't.

Well heres the scoop I called up Pontiac Custmer Assistance and filed a complaint against my tire problems.

Pontiac doesn't seem to care also. I was supposed to talk to Justin yesterday about my claim. I left a voice message please call me back after 2:30 when I get finished with work. The stupid idiot calls me back at 12:50pm leaves a voice mail returned his phone call guess what he never calls me back. Now I have to wait till Wednesday till they talk to the service advisor. I don't know anymore what to do go to court but I can't afford a lawyer

Stacy,
If you want us to help you with suggestions, we need more details. From the last post, it just sounds like you are ranting. To get rid of a car over a possible tire issue seems to be a little extreme...

Re: My G6

Stacy, the best way to handle this is to keep your cool with the dealership. Even though the dealership and GM seems like they have boat loads of cash and should help out, they can't just blindly put new tires on anyone's car if they ask. They have to have proof. Its the dishonest customers out there that have ruined it for you. So, ask them to inspect the tire and make an evaluation of what went wrong with the tire. If you have a record of rotating and balancing the tires per your manual in the glove box, and you honestly haven't ran over anything to damage it and your wheel has no evidence of curbing or damage, and you have a written warranty that covers tire defects past 20,000 miles, then you have an easy case. Approach them with the facts and be cool and professional with them. Hope you get on the road soon.

Re: My G6

well, by 20k you should have already rotated the tires 3 times and done at least 1 alignment on it.

its not uncommon for tires to create a pull, see it all the time on cobalts. rotate the tire to the other side and it pulls the other direction, its bad enough that it will make a lane change on its own.

dealerships will give you more lee-way if your loyal to them, if you get all your service done at one place then they should help you out. but if you havent had an alignment and rotate the tires normally then your not maintaining the vehicle properly. not the manufacturers fault or the dealerships.

Re: My G6

No one checks out the work before car is delivered to customer. This is a complaint of mine for years. Too bad customer has to run quality control for shop. This is not limited to GM dealers.

I'll bet Shadams is right. Moved bad tire to steering axle and it showed up.

Re: My G6

Could be a broken belt in the tire causing the pull, which is filed under bad luck most of the time. If it is a bad tire, the should be able to rotate them back for you so at least the pull will be gone.

Re: My G6

Ok, let me get this straight... You have a car that has been on the road for 2 years with tires that have 20,000 miles on them and 1 of the tires has been determined to need replacement. The dealer you took the car to actually "offered" to replace one tire for you free of charge (which is a rare occurance because, as you said, it's not a warranty item), yet you're sitting here threatening to take legal action on the Pontiac dealership & trade the car in because of a bad tire?!?! Sounds like that dealer gave you an exceptional deal by offering to cover the price of the "bad" tire. Tires are a wear & tear item, same as brake pads. Despite manufactures claims regarding life expectancy, some last a little longer than others. It depends on many different variables. Are you going to sue the doctor because you gave birth a week before your due date?
