Leaking sun roof on my new style '07 Sierra

I finally got my new truck back after it was at the dealer for a week in order to repair a leaking sun roof.
FYI - there is a service bulletin regarding improper drain hoses and weather stripping on these models.
I found out about it after running my truck through an automated car wash...
It would be a good idea to have it checked before you get rained on in the comfort of your new truck.

Sorry to hear about this. Sometimes you have to wonder if they do any real world testing on these things, huh?

I also wonder about that. It's not like sun roofs and automated car washes are a new item. I suppose we'll have to check nozzle angles and spray velocities prior to using a car wash.
The dealer was really good about getting it taken care of, even setting me up with another '07 Sierra to use for the week while mine was in the shop.
Still, it was definately dishearting to see my new piece of Detroit Iron leaking water all over my lap and console.

Round 2...
Same problem again last week. Five more days with the truck in the shop. This time, however, it was determined that the tech forgot to attach one of the drain hoses when it was in the first time.
I've had the truck back for a few days now and it's gone through some pretty heavy rains with good results, so the fingers are crossed that the problem is finally fixed.

The factory installed sunroof drains were repaired on my 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT2 according to a TSB for leaking sunroof drains.

You are correct about your observation that sun roofs are not a new item. It is amazing how many times GM designs and manufactures a car, and later has problems with common, long-time features.

Now that it is fixed, I hope you can enjoy your new truck. How about some pictures of you new ride? We love pictures.

It took five days for the GM tech to hook up a drain he had previously forget ??? Wow. Can't imagine how many weeks it would take to get a windshield wiper motor replaced.

My Sierra 07 Crew (new body) sunroof is also leaking, and I am taking in to the dealer tomorrow. Any chance you have specifics (i.e. title, or document #) regarding the service bulletin so that I can direct the mechanic to it? Also, how is your paint holding up? Are you getting more stone chips than normal? Paint seems awfully thin. Thanks, Jeff
