GMT900 Ugly
I thought i would let the looks of the GMT900 grow on me and i would like it but its ugly and the pickup box is too high to reach into. Since i dont like the looks & do not want to carry a stepladder around to retreve something out of the back of the box i will keep my 04 Silverado.

Re: GMT900 Ugly
Wonderful! Enjoy your 2004 Silverado. If you think the box is "too high", go check out Ford or Toyota. Maybe you'll think differently.
Any other problems you think we may need to be aware of??

Re: GMT900 Ugly
Lowering the tailgate does not help you get anything out of the front of the box without a step stool.
And yes i love my 2004 Silverado and wouldnt trade it for a high rider.

Re: GMT900 Ugly
Let me just ask you, did you park your truck next to a similarly equipped 900? If you did, I think this thread would be worthless.

Re: GMT900 Ugly
Yes i had my salesman pick a vehicle with the same options as mine so it was compared apples to apples and not only is the box rail higher so is the floor pan in the box.

Re: GMT900 Ugly
Uhh.... I don't think you can get a flareside anymore on GM pickups.

Re: GMT900 Ugly
I agree to an extent. I'm not fond of the new Silverado styling either. The overstyled tailgate & fender flares are the worst offenders. The Sierra, however, looks worlds better. My only gripe with the Sierra's styling (the Silverados as well, but it seems to wear them better) are that the tail-lamps seem over-sized and wrap too far around the sides of the bed and consequently give the truck a disproportioned appearance when compared to the "big rig" look of the Sierras front end, as if the designers created the front first with the rear end design being an afterthought (i.e. Pontiac G6 coupe).

Re: GMT900 Ugly
I'm in the same boat. I want to unload mine while it's still under warranty and worth something (I'm hoping I can just about break even) and get a new one. But I kind of love mine, I know it's been well cared for, and I just don't like the new ones in the least.

Re: GMT900 Ugly
You ever think about a leveling kit to bring the bed lower? That would fix it. I think the rear sits about 2" higher than the front. The only reason not to level the truck out is if you plan on hauling alot of weight all the time. But, even then you could always put in an automatic airbag leveling kit. So, drop the rear 2" then install auto assist airsprings to keep it there under heavy loads. You get a new truck and it isn't to high for ya. Win win.
Just a thought.

Re: GMT900 Ugly
GM can't make everybody happy. GM has always been little bit lower than the rest and would get raked of the coals for it. Now it is the other way around. Don't look for anybody to build a shorter truck any time soon.
