GMC LUK Dual Mass Flywheel is Junk

Not a big surprise yo anyone who has a duramax 6 speed. I had 2 replaced in my bone stock truck. They acted like it never happened to anyone else. GM's Customer Circus is worthless when it comes to get help. The dealershiop said the last one was new and improved. It failed in 15,000 miles. ( it about shoodk my teeth out at an idle) Anyway, I finaly was able to get through to LUK and they said they were surprised at a failure that wasn't due to a highly modified truck? WTF? I am not hauling hogs to market and I am used to getting extreme life out of my trucks. My last truck 1997 k2500 350 5 speed just got a clutch only because the hrdraulic throwout bearing was leaking and we felt bad.

I changed to a southbend single mass set up on my own dime and did it myself. It is pretty nice. Smooth and quiet too. I don't know what crackhead speced out this flywheel, but I be a class action lawsuit would work. Professional Grade my rearend! I say that and I stillhave and love the trucm. i just think GM has a bunch of idiot accountants calling the shotw when engineers should be making the quality call. I saved all of the crap and I would love to show it to someone at GM that cares. I just don't think anyone there does.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, they have been having troubles, since the 6.5L TD dual mass flywheels.

We did successfully change the flywheel , for 1 customer, to a single flywheel. But I cannot rember where we got it from, right now.

Re: GMC LUK Dual Mass Flywheel is Junk

Yeah, yeah, I know, I can spell I jist can't type.

I jist can't beleieve that GM turns such a blind eye to a universal problem. I bet if I summoned the # of Dual mass flywheel equipped trucks from GM and matched it up to the number with problems or complaints it would get GM's attention. I am a loyal customer, but GM really left me hanging. The GM Customer Service Rep suggested that I trade it in if I couldn't fix it right.
If the Dealerships were given the ok to put a Single mass flywheel in from the start of problems, that could have been a plus instead of a real negative. I know that not many order a stick and that GM dumped it, but it sure was a classic case of the runaround. When GM help Bosch to stand behind their problem with injectors, they said in the letter that GMS owners with Duramax engines were buying into professional grade trucks in for the long haul. 7 yr, 200,000 mile warranty. When it was GM's turn to make it right on the DMF, I was told that 100,000 miles was a lot and that trucks would only last so long? It still grinds me. Can you tell?

Ford has the exact same problem.

Double check the aftermarket likely has a conversion.
There is one for Ford.

61000 or 6100 miles????

Surprising they wouldn't cover it, at least part of it...

Ask the dealer again for a goodwill repair from GM...
