Re: Excessive Lint on GMC seats

^^^Yep you are correct, when I looked it up I was looking at the SUV's. The trucks have different cloth options(duh). But with my Gpas Avalanche it has the Custom cloth, which is equivlant to the Preimum cloth on the trucks(atleast I think it is). Whichever it is, they do produce excessive lint and ravlings.

I once went to a Halloween party as a dirty old man.

Not a lot of effort involved, and the cane helped...

Have you tried some magnets on the Elantra's hood? I hear they help attract energy from The Universe.

I commend your effort to help save the planet by expending as little effort/energy as possible. I rank your endeavor right up there with multifunction TV remotes, which save energy in two ways. You don't have to waste calories fumbling around for different remotes and also use less batteries by consolidating all functions into a single device. What an incredible accomplishment! I get teary eyed just thinking about it.

I'm going to nominate you for the "Greenie Award" and on a side note, I'll also suggest to the committee that they could help lead the way by using organically grown material to manufacture their "green" trophies. I'm accumulating a supply in my nose right now and if we all did this, just think of the savings. Far less trees would be murdered in order to make tissue paper and with the abundant supply of raw material everyone could get a trophy and thus not feel left out.

I expect a Nobel prize for my brilliance or at the very least, a Noble one.

As to using magnets to enhance Elantra energy intake, I'll have to seek out advice from GMI's resident expert on these matters before committing myself to such a radical plan of action. If I get approval to do so, should I put them under the hood in order to decrease aerodynamic resistance or up top so that the whole world will know that I give a care?

Re: Excessive Lint on GMC seats

I took a good, long look at my seats as I was doing the semi-weekly lint rolling ritual.

I noticed that mine have some kind of inserts that don't seem to collect much of anything, but apparently scratch easily as there is a claw mark from my lab in the passenger's side...but that's no big deal.

It's the stuff that isn't the inserts that worries me. Heavy attaction to lint, pet hair, my hair, and anything on your cloths. I also noticed that they are already worn down after 5 months of ownership...specifically the side towards the door where you pivot your hips to move your legs out during entry/exit.

I am a little pissed that my co-workers $22K Ford STX has more rugged seats than my $35K Silverado Z71. The lint is an annoyance that I am sure the will eventually fix...but I am concerned that the seat material is simply of bad quality.

I should have gotten leather, but it wouldn't survive my dog's claws...and I don't dig how leather looks after 5 to 8 years.

I sure hope they come out with something soon for this. Maybe if I can show them the wear they'll investigate a fix for the seat covers faster. Anyone else have unusual wear on their truck seats? I'll get pics soon.

On the positive side, the dashboard is awesome, the doors close with a quiet (quality) thump with no rattles, and the floor mats are better quality than in the Trailblazer or the old T400 Silverado GM trucks. I love this truck...other than it not being a diesel and being difficult to park at times (the usual full size truck complaints) the only thing that bothers me is these seats....so that speaks well of the product. I'll just wait for them to come up with something on the seats and it will be all good.

To the guys in the know: could yall post the fix/bulletin for this when it becomes available. I don't want to go bothering my dealership if they are instructed not to replace the seat covers anyways. That's just a waste of both of our times.

This will be my 2nd stop with that info when it becomes available. My first will be to the worst customer of ALL TIME that I have been dealing with on their 07 Sierra, cant wait for that day, although I am sure they will call me 82 times before I call them.

Re: Excessive Lint on GMC seats

I have had a 2007 and 2 2008 trucks with these seats and while it is aggrivating its much better than the popping coming from the doors and or the moldings/seals. to be determined this week. Like my truck otherwise they run great.

I think they changed for 2008.

Mine look pretty bad after just a week btw cleaning. It's very frustrating....I should have gotten the lighter colored seats.

I sure hope the fix comes in within the next month or two so I can combine that trip with my scheduled check up. I've rotated the tires on this truck before..... It's worth paying $30 for the dealership to do it while they have it on the rack. I'm going to have them check the front hubs for leaks because last time I used four wheel drive I heard a tiny bit of gear whine and I'm not sure if it's just me being paranoid or if it's something to worry about.

Re: Excessive Lint on GMC seats

Yup this is a very common problem on the new style trucks, i have it in my 08 silverado and my dad has it in his 07 Yukon. Typically on the Ebony color seats. This is getting old really fast, my truck is brand new and the seats look very crappy. last i heard this should be fixed in the summer time.
