Re: Enough!!

Here is my take on this, for a union guy he isn't much of a supporter of the workers. He could have bought something other than the GM cause of his crappy dealer experience.....like a Ford or Dodge, he wanted the Yoda from the begining I suspect.

I am thinking, cause it was mentioned, that cause the GMC had sat on the lot for a few months the buyer may have walked in figuring to buy a huge discount, way below invoice I'm betting. Bet he paid a higher price for the Yoda or gave up options the GMC had. The guy is a putz and the other workers should let him know about it, and I am not a union supporter.

You all know that you can have any GM dealer service or do warrenty work on the specfic brand that dealer sells, you can buy from one dealer 100 miles away and use the guy across the street for warrenty.

Re: Enough!!

It isnt just the dealers who are driving customers to foreign cars, its the whole industry at fault.I had a bad experiance with GMAC who I have had a long history with. There was a mix up in the termination of my last lease when I leased a new Impala ss in 2006.The dealer said all was OK when I signed the paperwork on the lease on a car that wasnt in stock, but WAS available. The papers were signed on the 12th and the car was picked up on the 18th.I had a pull ahead program letter from GM and as I said the papers were already signed well in advance of the next feb 17th payment being due.The dealer calle dmany times to straighten the problem out to no avail.
The car was in perfect condition with 21,000 miles used on a 36,000 mile lease term.I called GMAC and was told that the car wasnt in the dealers posession untill the 18th so I was responsible for the next payment,a whole month for the matter of a few hours.I had explained that I had been a die hard GM loyalist since high school and a check of my record with thier company would attest to that fact.
I told GMAC that if something couldnt be resolved that i would be shopping elsewhere at the termination of this lease. They said We are sorry to hear that.
In essence they were willing to loose a lifelong customer who had purchased or leased new GM products for the last 30 years, over a $200 lease payment.
Right now there are two Harleys in the garage and two Chevys in the driveway. When I get ready to replace my Blazer in the spring,I will call GM back about the trouble I had in 06.If they wont work something out on the new vehicle to compensate for what happened,I will shop elsewhere.

Re: Enough!!

No dealer, GM or Toyota, sells vehicles to every customer every single time. There are a hundred reasons why anyone would or would not buy from certain salespeople. Sometimes it's just a bad day for the customer. Sometimes the salesperson just got his a$$ kicked by his old lady the minute the customer walked in the door. To make a blanket statement that "GM dealer sales departments are the cause of GM's decline" is ridiculous.

For the customers here, have you never had a bad day at work and it reflected on your performance? How many clients, customers HAVE YOU LOST BECAUSE YOU WERE HAVING A BAD DAY?

It happens. It's not the end of the world.

Sometimes it just comes down to a bad day for one party or another.

Re: Enough!!

What if he bought a GMC from a non-Union Mexican plant with a VIN that starts with a 3? Would that be just as bad as the Toyota?

Re: Enough!!

IMO

MOST dealerships from my expierience need a good butt kicking.

short story for me.

i was 24 at the time and all i have ever driven was beater cars, aside from my summer toy Camaro. My 92 grand prix finally shot a rod through the pan and it was time to shop asap.

I walked into a local chevy dealer to inquire about a new 2006 silverado or avalanche.
After being ignored for over a half an hour, probably because of my age and what i was wearing "jeans and a west coast chopper shirt" i was finally asked if there was something i could be helped with. When i sat down with the salesman i told him i wanted to price out a 06 silverado and a 06 avalanche. Nothing too fancy on the pickup, but some upgrades that i have never had.

He proceeded to tell me before he asked me where i worked, or before he even priced one out that i could not afford one and i should go see their used sales person.
I told him to price me out both anyways. He releuctantly did so saying that this was a waste of both our times. After getting pricing for both vehicles i opted for the silverado because of much lower payments "443 a month gmac lease".

He then told me he cant find me one "this was while we will still building the 2006/07 old bodystyle truck and the new body styles were 4 months away from coming online" and he could not order me one and to again see the used car salesman "BS! we still had orders coming in from dealers for the trucks!"

At this point i showed him my GM badge card and my paystubs and yearly income and i told him to stuff his truck up his keister and walked out to my buddys car, all the while the salesman was chasing after me telling me we can work something out.

2 weeks later i ended up at another local chevy dealer. Salesman met me outside, shook my hand, asked me what i was looking for. within 20 mins and he dident even know where i worked he had a 2006 ext cab almost fully loaded silverado 4x2 special edition with the chrome nerf bars and gm box liner tossed in for free located and priced out. I bought it on the spot.

9 months later the new 2007 NBS silvys were out. My 06 was not everything i wanted in a vehicle options wise and colour etc. So i went back to dealer, same salesman, told him although he did a great job and i liked the truck, i want to upgrade. So i optioned out my truck myself and $56 thousand bucks later i had my 07 4x4 crew cab black on black silvy ordered and my 06 went on leasebusters. took 4 months to get rid of my 06 because it wasent 4x4. The dealer held my 07 on the lot the whole time even though it cost them money. My salesman even offered a $1500 cash incentive for my 06 and it only had 15k on the clock.

it went after 4 months, i got my new truck, and i love it. I have brought my uncle to get the same truck i got from the same salesman and i am about to bring my mother tot he same dealer and same salesman to purchase a chevy HHR next week.

So some dealers can be pricks, alot can be good. unfortunatly, in my expierience, there is more prick dealers out here then good ones.
