Disgruntled 2004 Silverado owner

Omitting much detail to avoid boring you.

First, allow me to mention I have decades of experience with equipment of all types. I KNOW when a defect exists.

Several defects in 2004 Silverado bought new. Been to three different dealers. Curious how i hear the same refrain, "Can't replicate the problem."

Have left truck overnight AND for several days at a time.

"Can't replicate."

Yes, intermittent problems but they ARE there.

So....appears to me if a defect doesn't jump out and bite the mechanic on the news, if the defect can not be quickly and cheaply fixed, well, I guess I am expected to accept those defects.

Can not help but ponder if the fixing was on my own dime if those defects would be passed back to me.

I have lost a lot of work time thus income, at least $3,000 worth, while truck was in the shop. My pay is not enough to warrant renting a car and loaners are a thing of the past 'round these parts.

My state is extremely consumer unfriendly, so pro-business that using the courts for redress is a joke.

I would sell the truck but my personal code of honor requires me to inform a potential buyer of the problems. Too honest for my own good, I suppose. Selling to a dealer (where I do not hold myself to my honor code) is not an option due to the depreciation hit, I can not afford that.

Thus, I must tolerate my truck with several defects, one a true safety issue, until enough time has passed that the depreciation will not hurt me so badly.

This vehicle was the first new vehicle purchased in 33 years of vehicle ownership and the first GMC product ever purchased. I will not make the mistake again. I am also warning all I know as well as the general public what MAY befall them. Maybe others will have great experiences with a GMC product and the dealerships that, though separate, are an integral part of the "GMC experience." I truly hope so. But, what has happened to me COULD, conceivably, happen to others.

Another problem has risen lately, a very slow coolant loss of a type I have never experienced in any of my vehicles. Will have to enter the service department yet again. I fear if i hear those dreaded words again, "Cn not replicate," that I may end up using 4-foot by 8-foot plywood sheets and build a message board in the truck's bed, warning the populace of the words I have heard far-too-much for far-too-long.

Re: Disgruntled 2004 Silverado owner

I have never had problems with my Silverado (least ones I haven't caused) but then again I don't own a GMC Silverado.

Please list some of the "defects" you are having so we can at least get an idea of where you are coming from.

What was your initial issue with the truck?

Re: Disgruntled 2004 Silverado owner

I don't know if you have any real problems from your truck or not, but it seems to me that you just want to get on here and trash GMC. You expend 431 words of whinny drivel and the only problem you mention is a coolant leak that, in your 33 glorious years of vehicle ownership, you simply cannot identify. Then, after you wax lyrical, you don't even bother to ask a question or seek any kind of assistance. So what do you want? Help with your "defects"? or just a pat on the back and someone to tell you how clever you are?

Hmmm. So what should GM or us do for you? Maybe a list of "defects" that need repair would help so we can tell you if it happens alot or not. I don't know what you want, but we do have a better section for you to submit further threads to:

http://www.toyotanation.com

I'm sure they'd love to hear from you!

Re: Disgruntled 2004 Silverado owner

Your loyalty to your corporate masters is inspiring.

My intent was to share my repetively negative experiences and possibly warn others of the fate that MAY await them.

I truly wish I had read a post such as mine before deciding on that truck. I MAY have taken a different route.

I detect thine comprehension of my first point is clouded by some loyalty to a corporate brand.

I note the semi-ridicule in the Chevy/GMC/Silverado scrawlings as if I am unaware of the differences betwixt the entities.

However, it IS under the umbrella of GMC where all the sub-units of the corporate structure reside.

Go ahead, lambast away. I can take it. In fact, I somewhat revel in the loyalty I see to an entity that does not return that loyalty.

First of all, you're on a GM fan-based website. Do you think we're all Tundra drivers here?

Secondly, let's look at the facts. If you ever came on here and posted before, you'd see the majority of us here try to help and lend advice to anyone who has difficulty with their vehicles....regardless of brand. You never mentioned what your problems were. You just wanted to come onto a GM website and tell fans that the products they love are bad. Don't think that was too bright. What did you expect our replies to be?

Thirdly, your truck is under the umbrella of GM, not GMC. But I guess you're too busy reading your freakin encyclopedia to pick up a car mag or look at the tailgate of your truck.

I seriously don't know why you are here. It seems to me you are a troll and are looking to stir some ****. Go somewhere else, we're full right now! Mods, get this fool out of here!!

What likearock posted is very much the truth.
You pushed up the hostility first and foremost with taunts like that.
This is a GM fansite, but people will honestly try to provide helpful advice.
There are a number of technicians and service experts at GMI that have helped quite a few GM customers.

I rather doubt that you came here looking for goodwill or advice though. Based on your comments you seem to want to take your problems out on and provoke other people.

His 1st post was apparently positive about his truck in 2004. I wish that he would come out and EXPLAIN what has caused his change in opinion FULLY instead of simply throwing out accusations.

Re: Disgruntled 2004 Silverado owner

obbop,

Please explain the issue on either your 2004 GMC Sierra or 2004 Chevy Silverado, otherwise there is likely no point here, and I'll lock this up...

Thanks

I just want to see if I can help you. In terms of scaring people away from GM on this site, it's unlikely, maybe though, one of the people here can help you.

Try not to be such a stand-offish dink. It seems all you want here is a fight, if that is the case, let GMCSonoma know so he can lock this thing up. Otherwise let us try to help you.

Re: Disgruntled 2004 Silverado owner

Can not fathom what any of you folks can do to assist me.

You were not present to experience the treatments I experienced at three separate Chevy dealers.

I will go elsewhere to warn others of what they MAY encounter when dealing with a corporate structure that is obviously unwilling to stand behind their product nor honor their warranty.

Delete thread. I can reach a multutude of eyes at other venues.

Carry on.

Please don't threaten...refer to: Basic rules for the Complaint Forum

Instead of being all "cloaks & daggers" about this, you could tell us what exactly your issues were. Otherwise they & you carry no merit.

Please just lock the thread GMCSonoma. Clearly the guy doesn't own a GM truck since he doesn't know the exact make of his truck and since he can not tell us of any of these so called "defects".
