Chevrolet Trailblazer license plate trim area

Chevrolet please come up with a solution for the trim piece on the hear hatch that holds the licence plate and bowtie. No matter what in the sun/heat the glue will melt and run down the paint and it looks like crap. My wife's 2005 Trailblazer EXT trim piece has been replaces 6 times in the two years we have owned it (it could be replaced monthly I just don't feel like taking it in).

Re: Chevrolet Trailblazer license plate trim area

GM issued TSB #04-08-66-001C for the 2002-2007 Trailblazer/EXT, which instructs the dealer to remove the license plate pocket assembly, clean the area, and reinstall the pocket in a specific manner using a new gasket (seal) #15170981.

Is this what your dealer did?

Re: Chevrolet Trailblazer license plate trim area

This sounds like a dealer issue to me.

Re: Chevrolet Trailblazer license plate trim area

My parents have an 05. When they were looking, I saw many new Trailblazers on dealers lots that looked aweful. You can see the glue bubbling out and dirt collected on the glue.

I didn't think that would get through quality control. In any case, my parent's is nice except for the bowtie on top of the liscense plate that seems to be fading or something.

01pewterz28- that is a nice looking truck. I'd take it to a different dealer or find a TSB and show them how to fix it. Is that an LS with LT bumpers? I think the LS has the body colored bumper insert.

How do you like it otherwise?

Re: Chevrolet Trailblazer license plate trim area

Yep two different dealerships have done the repairs they replaced the new gasket (seal) #15170981 each time. Give it 2-3 weeks the glue is melting again and running down the rear hatch collecting road crap

member12-Thanks it's an LS I thought all LS's for 05 had the plastic bumper insert, I wish it had the body colored.
