Re: Toyota Venza ?

I wouldn't be surprised if they bring out a Lexus version of this ugly thing!

Note the headlight look. It is very similar to the Ford Edge's headlight design, though less boxy. Can you say "copycat"??

It just looks retarded, and that goes for the version that has become popular in minivans, too. Put it on the column if you don't want it in the floor.
Putting the shifter on the center stack allows for more arm space and more storage space in the center console.

I think the reason why the shifter not on the steering column for maximum space efficiency is because the Venza has +/- automanual shifting.

Can't really have that if it's a column shifter.

I like how Toyota plays its cards so close to their vest. GM could learn something in that regard.

Direct competitor to the Equinox is the Rav 4. This is a Camry wagon, the closest thing GM made to this car in recent history is the Malibu Maxx. Don't be surprised if this thing is named Camry Venza, just like the Solora is actually the Camry Solara, and the Matrix is a Corolla Matrix.

GM incorporated the +/- automanual shift selection into the column shifter on it's trucks. Moreover the +/- are just buttons essentially, thus they could be paddles or located just about anywhere really.

Re: Toyota Venza ?

I don't think this car looks as bad as some people would think the interior not withstanding. The question still remains with another CUV/SUV brought to the frey over at yoda how will it stand among the other 7 they currently have on the market. I think the Venza is more in line with the Nissan Rogue/Murano as far as direct competition more so than the Nox though.

Re: Toyota Venza ?

I will definitely consider to buy Venza next year when I will replace my wife’s Malibu MAXX
Midsize wagon and ability to tow a boat! That is the answer

haha so true! I don't know who approves these designs at toyota but he/she looks to be blind.

but it is ugly (and thus "different"), and has a T on the hood so it'll likely do well.
