Toyota (again) makes false claims in illegal European ad

Toyota zero emissions ad ruled misleading

Quote:
An advert for the Toyota Prius in the European Voice newspaper which breached the European car labelling directive, has today been ruled misleading by the Belgian advertising standards authority.

Friends of the Earth Europe's car efficiency campaigner, Jeroen Verhoeven, filed a complaint against the advertisement which showed an image of a Toyota Prius and included the words 'Zero emissions low'. The advertisement did not contain any CO2 emission or fuel consumption data, as is obliged under Belgian law, and thus violated European labelling directive 1999/94/EC.
This is not the first time that a European country has ruled a Toyota ad to be false. "After investigating a complaint about the commercial, the ASA found it breached advertising rules. The authority ordered Toyota not to broadcast the Prius commercial...."

The relentless pursuit of false advertising. "The ad breached CAP Code clauses 7.1 (Truthfulness), 19.1 (Other comparisons) and 49.1 (Environmental claims)."

What is this, like the third or fourth time they've been caught like this ? (Worldwide)

Very little that they 'publish' involving numbers is accurate in the real sense of the word.

Lets see,

Carbon emission numbers.

0-60 mph or 0 -100 kmph times.

Trunk space..................... well, basically everything - by them or internet supporters and spin Dctors.

Notice on this one the arrogance, - the world seems to have forgotten what happens when Japanese organizations really get the upper hand - the first step of which is to rewrite the rules - on everything.

It gets worse from there - much worse.

Jesus. I had no idea, thanks for the wisdom.

The Seattle Mariners were supposed to be a playoff team this year....but they have the worst record in baseball. It must be because the majority owner is Japanese.....and damn those spin doctors to give me faith in a crappy team.

Seriously though, EU loves their diesel engines. I didn't expect gasoline-hybrids to be welcomed with open arms by everyone over there.

So Toyota is using false advertising and engaging in active fraud and abuse. Looks like Toyota has learned well from their primary advertising agency, Consumer Reports.
