Arrow Subaru 216A (subaru version of Toyota FT-86) confirmed with AWD and turbo motor

from http://www.ft86club.com

Quote:
The biggest news to come out of all this is that rumors of the car being turbo and all wheel drive are now in fact confirmed. However staff close to the Subaru development side of the project have revealed is that the first thing to differ will be the codes which the cars will be known by. While the version of the FT-86 to go on sale in Japan will be known by the code 086A and in the US and Europe as the 087A and 088A respectively, the Fuji Heavy Industries version will be branded as the 216A. This is to “clearly distinguish between the Toyota and Subaru version of the car”. Things get juicier from there though with the confirmation of what many have been suspecting all along. The car will be driven by a 2.0 liter turbo charged powerplant feeding power to all four wheels. -- http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99

I think the Subaru version is going to be kick ass. especially compared to the Toyota version!

I like that rendering....especially the headlights and fender flares...I wonder if it is accurate?

I sure wish it was a tad larger. The Toyota better be considerably cheaper or why would any sane person buy it.

Lose the hood scoop and you've got one cool-looking rendering. The Toyota version is growing on me, but this is much better, and not just because it's not a Toyota.

OK, maybe it's mostly because it's not a Toyota.

I like the toyota version but this one I like alot more and I don't even mind the hood scoop, its more aggressive in design, has AWD, is gonna have much more HP and 6 speed manual. Saaaweeet

Re: Subaru 216A (subaru version of Toyota FT-86) confirmed with AWD and turbo motor

The toyo is gonna be the same minus the turbo and AWD. Toyota made it pretty clear that the FT86 is just gonna be a drift vehicle.

I doubt the Subie will look like that, but if it does, woot! I can see this vehicle with a high dollar sign. I think Subaru might claim this as their sports car and have some interesting features.

Re: Subaru 216A (subaru version of Toyota FT-86) confirmed with AWD and turbo motor

I really believe this is going to be a hot new sport coupe..

Not sure which one will be better looking...

The toyota/scion model or the suby...

Not sure the rwd or awd will be the one to buy.

I see problems for each of the near priced competitors....

IE> genesis coupe, 370Z etc..

Is it a 2 seater or 2 + 2 coupe? TT competitor?

Re: Subaru 216A (subaru version of Toyota FT-86) confirmed with AWD and turbo motor

I really like this rendering. If the rumors are true then the hood scoop is needed since it will probably have a 2 liter boxer engine. And since the intercooler will be ontop the engine. Its not a subie without the hood scoop. I like it.

I don't see a lot of competition for the Genesis or the 370Z. This is one of those cars that people salivate over (Kappa) and then don't buy because of how small they are. From the Photos the Toyota has 4 seats.
