Re: Review: IS-F

When I drove it, there was no price published, and yes it was a pretty good car, but now that I know list price, I would more than likely stay stateside or Euro.

Re: Review: IS-F

$61k as tested? Now I am not saying I got that kind of loot laying around, but for what it is, that doesn't sound too outrageous. Heck, 3 years ago I test drove a Cadillac STS that had a MSRP of $66k. I know they don't compete directly; Caddy is bigger and plusher, but the Lexus is faster and sportier.

Re: Review: IS-F

Not that it isnt a nice car, cause I think the F is dead sexy. Especially with the Blue exterior and white leather interior. But with a as tested price north of 60g's there is no way I could chose it over a RS4, C63, or the new CTS-V! But not counting those amazing cars, if I needed 4-door rocket saloon I would probably go for the F!!!

Re: Review: IS-F

Paddle AND stick control... neat. The driveability sounds nice too....

However, the interior looks like pure crap. Some of those knobs on the radio remind me of an S-Series Saturn radio.

I wouldn't waste $60k on an overpriced toyota.
I could buy a CTS and a Malibu with that kind of money.

Re: Review: IS-F

I drove an IS350 for a week, and it was a quick car. Add another 35% more horsepower and you're talking damn fast. I also thought it handled really well and had good steering feel, and the transmission held onto gears well when in sport mode (and would let you hit the rev limited rather than just shifting to the next gear at redline).

The interior is actually very nice in the IS350, so I'd assume it is in the IS-F as well. $60k is a lot of money for such a small car, but the sucker will be fast and comfy (if you're 6' tall with no kids, or under 6' tall with kids).

That being said, assuming the CTS-V is the same price, I'd take the Caddy any day.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I actually saw a blue IS-F next to me at the gas station yesterday. That was the first one I've seen in the wild (outside of auto shows).

If you read the article, the "F" failure was for previous Lexus models. The reviewers were pretty happy with the IS-F.

It seems decent to me. I will never buy a $60,000 car. But if I was, I would refuse to get an M3 solely because I'm sick to death of hearing the automotive media cream their pants and scream like teenie boppers at a Hanson concert over it.

There is a reason for that and I suggest you drive one to find out why. Hopefully the latest in the series of 'V' cars will steal a little thunder. That steering wheel in the V is the greatest thig since sliced bread.

The switch gear, steering wheel and lack of sticthing on the dash makes it look on par with my 4 banger Aura. I'm just not that impressed and I expected better from Lexus.

Re: Review: IS-F

We had an IS-F in our shop last week and it was so busy here I didn't get a chance to drive it, but everyone else seemed to like it. We also have a new M3 in the shop too. I'm gonna take it for a quick trip around the block at lunch hopefully. We will be having a Nissan GT-R coming in either this week or next week so I'm definitely gonna take that for a cruise around the block as well. As far as the price for the IS-F, i'd take the CTS-V anyday.
