Jeez, I just turned to the 2006 RAV4 test in the January Car and Driver, after looking at just about everything else. The January issue isn't online yet or I'd post the link.
This is one incredible machine.

I hate to say it, but those are very impressive numbers. It will be very interesting to see how this car plays out w/ pricing and options and everything when it comes to market.

Only 60lbs heavier than the Avalon?
The new Camry gets this motor with 6 speeds, and at least 150 less pounds. A sub 6 Camry running mid 14's !!!!

GM better get on the stick and at least give the Equinox/Torrent a real engine. The new RAV even gets substantially better gas mileage on top of the better power.

Well GM should fix it with the HF V6 line.

Except GM's HF V6 only makes 255hp, in Caddy form. The version they give to other GM brands only makes 240hp.

I think people, even on this site, are finally starting to realize that GM's V6's are getting freight trained.

Re: !rav4 3.5 269hp

GM should plan on dropping the 240 hp 3.9 into the Equinox. Yesterday.
Unfortunately it will take them about three years to react to this.

Even if they do it tomorrow they would still be down 30hp. By the time they really do it who knows.

Maybe there are less people on this site then I thought that are disturbed by the gap in the current crop of V6's. To me it's getting to the point of shocking and will definately affect my next car purchase.

We need to all forget about the OHC vs OHV debate and demand a V6 that is worthy of cars that are quickly approaching $30,000. I think it's pretty obvious that 2 valve heads just aren't gonna cut it when you don't have a significant cubic inch advantage over the competition like the V8's have.

But when you consider the price and the amount of features (especially safety features), then the deal looks even sweeter.
