Jeez, I just turned to the 2006 RAV4 test in the January Car and Driver, after looking at just about everything else. The January issue isn't online yet or I'd post the link.
This is one incredible machine. 0-60: 6.3 1/4: 14.9 @ 94 TOP: 129 mph 70-0: 180 ft. 300 ' skidpad: .83 g cost: under $28,000 per C&D; Toyota website pegged it at about $25,800 for the unoptioned 4wd V6 top line model, $24,500 for the fwd V6 top line model. 211 c.i, 269 hp @ 6200; 246 lb-ft @ 4700; 6400 red line weight: 3660; wb/l/w/h: 105/181/71.5/69 speed in gears: 40, 72, 113 @ 6400 rpm; 129 @ 5100 rpm; 129 @ 3650 rpm mph/1000 rpm in gears: 6.3, 11.3, 17.6, 25.4, 35.2. Rated mpg: 20/27 or 28 Holy frikkin bird flu, batman. These guys aren't waiting for Hyundai to act. I hope to h#ll The Sleepy General has something like this in the wings. I suspect not. http://toyota.com/vehicles/future/rav4/

Amazing SUV. What I would call best in class.

I hate to say it, but those are very impressive numbers. It will be very interesting to see how this car plays out w/ pricing and options and everything when it comes to market.

Re: !rav4 3.5 269hp
GM better get on the stick and at least give the Equinox/Torrent a real engine. The new RAV even gets substantially better gas mileage on top of the better power.

Re: !rav4 3.5 269hp
GM should plan on dropping the 240 hp 3.9 into the Equinox. Yesterday.
Unfortunately it will take them about three years to react to this.

Maybe there are less people on this site then I thought that are disturbed by the gap in the current crop of V6's. To me it's getting to the point of shocking and will definately affect my next car purchase. We need to all forget about the OHC vs OHV debate and demand a V6 that is worthy of cars that are quickly approaching $30,000. I think it's pretty obvious that 2 valve heads just aren't gonna cut it when you don't have a significant cubic inch advantage over the competition like the V8's have.
