Nissan releases more new truck info

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/02/n...f-2008-trucks/

Perhaps looking to increase the buzz factor before the 2007 Chicago Auto Show next week, Nissan has released even more images and info on the trio of trucks it will be debuting, which includes the 2008 Titan, Armada and Pathfinder. To recap, the Titan gets a new long-wheelbase version with a 7-foot bed, as well as an off-road PRO-4X trim. The one and only engine is an updated 5.7-liter V8 now producing 317 horsepower and 385 ft-lbs. of torque, which is good for a top tow-rating of 9,500 lbs. that falls below that of the domestics and Toyota's new Tundra.

The Armada gets a refreshened face up front, but the bigger news is on the inside where a new dash makes this full-size SUV an easier ship to sale. Finally, the Pathfinder also gets styling tweaks inside and out, but it's big news is under the hood where a 300-horsepower 5.6L V8 is now an option.

You can check all the numerous big and little tweaks these three trucks received in the press releases located after the jump, or check at all three galleries we've assembled of available high-res images.

Minor updates. Still not near class leading in my opinion. Or GM's offerings for that matter.

The engine rating is already in place on the current Titan. Either the engine or the SAE rating was revised for model year 2007. For $27,000 you can get a 4x4 extended cab with 317 horsepower, 385 pound feet of torque, and a 5 speed auto. That's good value for your dollar - the Vortec Max costs a lot more and is hindered by a 4 speed. You can match the Titan 5 speed on performance with 4.10 rear gears, but then your gas mileage is just as bad or maybe worse.

Styling is unexciting and the interior needs work, but as far as I can tell the only real weakness (and it definitely is a real weakness) of the Titan is reliability.

Ya reliability and looks are an issue.

But I got my Sierra ext cab VortecMax for $28408 with 3.73 gears with leather and its alot nicer of a truck so I have just as good a value for my dollar. My truck is just so much better. And 4 speeds don't hinder the truck at all, that is perception, I have the M70 heavy duty transmission which is rock solid and very quick. And I get better gas mileage.

Re: Nissan releases more new truck info

^^ Hmmm I don't think so. I can't wait till all engines use direct injection.

really, I would figure that it would have more than 317hp with the DI, the TQ #'s are pretty good though

Re: Nissan releases more new truck info

Ya he said direct ignition, and I said direct injection. Good ole Mags, you know I'm a little dislexic when it comes to that word, for some reason I see "injection" instead of "ignition" every time. Crap.

Re: Nissan releases more new truck info

You mean kinda like all the futile points you've made over the last year? I rest my case.

That's awesome. I didn't know you could get it that cheaply.

The truck certainly isn't weak or slow with 4 speeds, but 5 or 6 would make it faster and more fuel efficient without any tradeoff.
