My/Your Ideal Acura Lineup

Lineup should remain exactly as-is except the following:

NSX:
Acura needs to finally step into the true exotic world with a 500 HP/350 lbs/tq V10 powered mid-engined/AWD sports car. Aggressive, sporty design, wide and low. A very powerful engine tone to accompany the aggressive design. Extremely taut suspension with a weight around 2500 lbs.

RSX:
Update the styling inside and out, and add more power. Take cues from the new NSX. RWD with optional AWD based on a shortened Mustang platform. Type-S would offer a 330 HP V6, a sport-tuned suspension, a more aggressive fascial, and a sportier interior. Should be upgraded to offer more luxury, more standard and optional equipment, more power, and more refinement to begin its pricing near $30,000.

ISX:
The Intregra reborn! Once again, based on a shortened Mustang platform. Sporting a low, wide stance, this car is priced in the low $20,000 range. It's I4 engine pumps out 190 HP and is very light. Sporty, fun, small, with decent power. Type-S would offer a 260 HP V6, a sport-tuned suspension, a more aggressive fascial, and a sportier interior.

TSX: As-is except with more power (240 HP I4, 280 HP V6) and standard AWD. Type-S offers 360 HP.

TL: As-is except with standard AWD.

RL:
As-is except based on a new RWD platform, more standard and optional equipment, optional V8, more luxury, and a Type-S version with a 350 HP V8.

FSL:
A full-sized, RWD sedan based on Honda-Acura's new RWD car platform. This flagship (hence "FS" in name) sedan is aiming to take on the likes of the 7-series and S-class in comfort, luxury, equipment, technology, and sportiness, as well as style with Acura's designs - no Bangle Butt here!

RDX:
RDX as-is. I4 (220 HP) and V6 (280 HP) options. Type-S would offer a 330 HP V6, a sport-tuned suspension, a more aggressive fascial, and a sportier interior.

MDX:
MDX as-is, except for the grille, which is changed up for a mesh grille. V6 good for 280 HP.

FDX:
A full-size SUV to compete with the likes of Lexus GX/Caddy Escalade based on Honda-Acura's new full-size crossover platform. Tons of style, good pricing, lots of power, and gobs of luxury. Slightly smaller than the Escalade, but by one 1"-2" in every diminsion. V8 only (300 HP and 375 HP)

Re: My/Your Ideal Acura Lineup

What's the difference between your RSX and ISX? I think Acura should just drop the RSX from it's lineup. Even the TSX is pushing it. They are already considered a notch below Infiniti and Lexus by many, because of the low price to entry of the RSX, compared to the G35 and IS250/350.

Personally, I think they need to drop a V6 into the TSX and make that the entry model, and have it offered in both coupe and sedan trim. Drop in the 244hp J30 into it if necessary. TL needs a bump in power to closer to 300, with a 330+hp Type-S option, because Lexus and Infiniti are ramping up the horsepower wars, with the next gen G35 (Rumored 330hp) and GT-R (450+hp).

There is really no point to the RL as is, other than it's AWD option, because that thing really isn't that much bigger than the TL, and it is slower because of it's weight. If it really wants to compete with the the likes of the Infiniti M, BMW 5/7/etc, it really needs a V8. Even the V6 powered M35 has better performance than the RL.

Re: My/Your Ideal Acura Lineup

RSX would be a level up on the ISX... ISX=$20,000 or there abouts base price, RSX would start at near $30,000 with better overall performance, standard and optional equip, etc...

And people still think of Acura as a luxury brand... an accessable luxury brand with excellent cars at very competitive prices, not to mention their lower-end cars (Integ, RSX, Legend) have always been among the most sought after vehicles by the tuner crowd, and as they grow older, they move up to TSX and above... Let Acura play the role it's so good at play, while adding vehicles to the upper end of the scale to compete with Lexus and the others.

Re: My/Your Ideal Acura Lineup

I'd drop the RSX altogether and let Honda pick it up.
It is keeping the Acura brand downmarket.

Re: My/Your Ideal Acura Lineup

Acura needs to start offering V-8's on their top models. Luxury markets almost require 6 and 8 cylinder cars but Acura keeps offering 4 and 6 cylinder vehicles and that's ruining brand perception. Otherwise, they're doing fine. I love the interiors on most of their cars and they're fun to drive.

Re: My/Your Ideal Acura Lineup

Here's my ideal Acura lineup:

CSX: 2-dr/4-dr based off Honda Civic. 2.0L i-VTEC L4 160 HP 6M/5A, 2.0L i-VTEC L4 200 HP Type-S 6M. *CSX is currently sold in Canada but my version would have unique interior and more exterior enhancements than current CSX plus the addition of a coupe.

TSX: 2.3L i-VTEC Turbo from RDX with 6M/5A replaces 2.4L i-VTEC L4.

TL: As-is in 2009 version except for 6-Speed Manual option in FWD 3.5L V6 in addition to SH-AWD 3.7L V6.

RL: Hybrid Option

MDX: Hybrid Option

RDX: Hybrid Option

NSX: SH-AWD, 3.7L 400 HP V6 6M

I never see Acuras here in California.

Funny thread revival though on IAMCANADIAN's part. I definitely agree with the TSX change, but not so much for the others.

Acura states they are going be a tier 1 import, that means stand toe to toe with BMW and MB. What you are describing is not tier 1 luxury.
