Hyundai Genesis - Official Pictures and Information
Available with three engines including the automaker's familiar 3.3L and 3.8L Lambda V6 engines producing 264 HP/233 lb. ft. and 290 HP/264 lb. ft., respectively. The top-shelf motor will be Hyundai's first V8 in the U.S., the 4.6L Tau V8 that produces a healthy 368 HP and 324 lb. ft. of torque. The Tau V8 also gets paired with a ZF 6-speed automatic rather than the Aisin 6-speed autos that are mated to the V6 engines. The V8 also runs on good old fashioned 87 octane unleaded gas, something not all of its competition can claim. 0-60? Well under 6 seconds says Hyundai.

Re: Hyundai Genesis - Official Pictures and Information
Hyundai hasn't made the huge splash they wantesd or expected with their current crop of cars... but I think that if they persevere they will eek out and maintain a decent, respectable place in the market. Cars like the Genesis and new RWD coupe might take a generation or two to catch on, but they're smart cars for Hyundai to offer.

Re: Hyundai Genesis - Official Pictures and Information
According to the just released brochure of Korean version of Genesis, found at: http://cafe.naver.com/clubhm.cafe?if...articleid=1453 (all in Korean btw), here are the things I could find on the 3.8Liter version. (I didn't even bother to write down the 3.3 since we won't get it here)
Standard Equipment. (I left out a few that I think is standard on most cars and the things I wasn't sure what they really meant) -Rear Up & Down Head-rest -Rear Arm-rest, Power Outlet & Storage Box -Rear Audio Remote Control -Heated and Cooled Seats -12 Way Power Seats -Dual front, Side, and Side Curtain Airbags -Electric Active Head-rest -Front and Rear Multi Link Suspension -Push Button Start / Smart Key -Tire Pressure Meter -Electric Parking Brakes -Immobilizer -Rear Electric Curtain -Parking Assist -All doors safety / Power one-touch windows -Rain Sensing Wipers -Automatic Headlight control -Cruise Control -Duel Zone Automatic Air Conditioning -Automatic Defogger -B-Pillar Ventilation -In-Dash 6 Disc CD Changer -Bluetooth -USB + iPod + AUX -Lexicon Logic 7(Speaker 14 EA) OPTIONS -DIS OPTION PACKAGE: (In-Dash DVD, All Seats 8 inch Monitor, HDD Type Navigation, Voice Recognition, Back-up Camera) -Rear 8 inch Monitor with Remote Control -Lexicon Discreet Logic 7(Speaker 17 EA) -Front Camera + Smart Cruise Control The 3.3Liter version had most of them as either N/A or Optional. I heard that they are thinking of around $26,000 starting price for the US bound models. The Korean websites also saids that the US bound models will begin shipping sometime in June of 2008.

Re: Hyundai Genesis - Official Pictures and Information
Amazing options at this price point.. This car is going to make waves.. Hyundai has had its troubles in the past, but this is going to fix a lot of things in people's eyes...

Re: Hyundai Genesis - Official Pictures and Information
I'm looking forward to driving a fully loaded V8 in the summer and hear the Lexicon audio system. It sounds like it will be amazing.
I've been watching this car since 2004 when it was only rumors and spyshots. I'm extremely overwhelmed. This car is amazing. Impressive job Hyundai!!!

Re: Hyundai Genesis - Official Pictures and Information
Tint the windows, then maybe the rims in that second shot will look good
![]() Given it's price, I think this is a car that has some definite customization potential.....at least with the exterior..... Wonder how this will do vis-a-vis the Lexus GS? I think it would be even more interesting if the designers took some 'cues' and went with a nearly-fastback shape like the GS.......aren't too many of those today ![]()

Re: Hyundai Genesis - Official Pictures and Information
Some more pictures:
http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2009-...-sedan/566568/ I have some additional specs, which are repeated in other threads: 197 inches long, 73.3 inches wide, 58.7 inches tall, 115.6 inch wheelbase 12-14% better 'dynamic torsional rigidity' (whatever that is) than the 5-series or E-class while still being lighter 3720 pounds for the smaller V6 3750 pounds for the bigger V6 4006 pounds for the V8 Front leg room 44.5 inches Rear leg room 38.6 inches 109.4 cubic feet of cabin space (for comparison, the Impala has 104, the Avalon has 107, the G8 will have 107, the Taurus and Lucerne have 108, the Mercedes S-class has the same 109.4, the Mercedes E-class has 97, the BMW 5-series has 99, the BMW 7-series regular wheelbase has 104, the BMW 7-series long wheelbase has 111, the Lexus LS460 has 103, the Lexus LS460L isn't listed, the CTS is 98, the STS is 103, and the DTS is 111). Even discounting all of the fancy options, I am happy it comes out because I'm hoping more future sedans are big. A properly designed large sedan can give a much better driving experience, and economy, and emergency handling compared to a taller SUV or minivan. Re: Hyundai Genesis - Official Pictures and Information
I think Hyundai was paying a little too much attention to what Cadillac was doing with their interiors (leather dashes) and went overboard.. Here's my rendition of what it should have looked like (woodgrain). It's not a Michaelangelo, but it's get a point across... Let me know what you think...

Re: Hyundai Genesis - Official Pictures and Information
It looks like you tacked on one of those aftermarket woodgrain kits
![]() I like it on the center stack.... On the dash/around the instrument cluster reminds me of what GM was doing in the early 80's (on the Buick LeSabre & Pontiac Grand Prix to name a few)......it's nice to see a 'nostalgic' touch like that show up ![]() Could've gone without on the steering wheel, though it is a small area.....so I doubt many would really notice.

Re: Hyundai Genesis - Official Pictures and Information
Oh, yes, one more thing. They told me that there will be a back seat, center headrest, at least on the V8 model.

Re: Hyundai Genesis - Official Pictures and Information
There were 3 Genesis sedans at the Hyundai display at the Chicago Auto Show. One was on a raised rotating pedestal, & two were on the floor, open to showgoers. The cars were marked as preproduction vehicles that are subject to change, and did not have stickers.
I got free tickets that were only good on weekdays, so I went on Friday, the first day it was open to the public, hoping to beat the crowd. I was only able to get there at about 7:30PM, so my time was spread a bit thin as I had a lot I wanted to see. Anyways, I was a bit surprised at how this car was presented--with little fanfare. Other than the rotating display, the cars were just plopped next to the Tiburons and Sonatas. Not to take anything away from those cars, but the Genesis is not par for the Hyundai course. Foreshadowing of the dealer experience? We'll see. I'm not particularly snobbish, so this wouldn't be something that will deter me from buying if it comes to that. I saw no Hyundai folk around when I was there, and no to many other showgoers seemed to notice (though granted it was not too crowded when I went). The car itself is beautiful inside and out in person--excellent proportions, good fit and finish, everything I touched & saw met or exceeded my expectations for a car that should retail in the $30-40K range. The only thing I didn't really care for was the grill. I am 6'1" & 207 lbs, and was able to get very comfortable behind the wheel. Leaving the front seat as I had set it, I had plenty of room in the very comfortable back seat. Of course the trunk was huge. I was impressed enough that I am considering going back and taking a closer look. Reflecting on the experience, I am left with the impression that this is a very nice fullsize car, and everything a full size Buick should be. How unfortunate for Buick. This is a very impressive vehicle, and I look forward to a test drive.
