Re: Hyundai Genesis Audio system

Hyundai's Lambda 3.8L V6 is a gem.
But it is a little thirsty, at least in the Veracruz and Entourage.

I've only driven the Entourage, but in that the engine seemed to have plenty of power. I peeled out of the dealership parking lot completely by accident the first time I drove it.

If you get an account at truedelta.com and view their user-supplied fuel economy information, the Entourage is okay for a minivan.

Like I said, the engine's great. The Entourage's 5-speed auto transmission could use some work though, as you really have to go gently or the 1-2 upshift will lurch.

Motor Trend got 14.7 mpg on the dash display w/ their Veracruz for the SUV of the Year test. In their minivan test, Car and Driver's Entourage and Quest were tied for the lowest mileage at 14 mpg in their 300 mi test. (Odyssey EX-L: 16, Grand Caravan 4.0: 18, Sienna 3.5: 19.)

Re: Hyundai Genesis Audio system

Somehow I missed your signature before.

We have the Odyssey, and it feels like it has a surprising amount of power once you wind it up the rev range. But the Entourage definitely felt more powerful off the line. Of course, that Toyota 3.5 is the real prize. Best fuel economy in Car and Driver's test and it also managed 7.2 seconds 0-60

I can't even begin to think about how powerful the 3.5 Sienna must be. The 3.3 was already more than adequate. 24MPG with 7 people and a suitcase for each person, while driving 80MPH is not something you'll ever see me complaining about.
Now if they could just design a motor that doesn't belch smoke at startup with only 80,000 miles...

Well, i highly doubt that this will be a rape job. It will be a good value. I sat in one and interviewed a Hyundai exec. However, after really reading up and looking it over, i am not sure that this will be a runaway hit. I was originally looking at the Genesis as a replacement for my STS. Nope, don't think so....
I am still going to drive one, though.

I agree...having driven an Odyssey recently the Entourage does feel quicker off the line. Both are pretty equal, I'd say the Entourage accelerates more aggressively.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind taking one of those Siennas for a spin I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it's both faster and, under the same conditions, faster than my Maxima....

I have to say I thought the Grand Caravan was a real surprise in that test, being fairly quick and surprisingly economical (just 1 mpg less than the Toyota). It was quiet, too.

I'm curious, what made you decide that you probably won't buy one?
