Hyundai to enter F1 in 2010?

This is pretty old article, but I thought this was pretty funny. Hyundai is thinking of entering the F1 race by 2010?. A Hyundai? I mean, are they serious? Who are they kidding? They should really be careful not to make fool of themselves and stop all these non-sense.

You can read all about it here:

I hope for their sake. F1 is northing more than a money pit, nothing can be gained.

What's more funny is that, there is even a Hyundai F1 Fan Site already, can you believe that? though it's under construction. I laughed my brains out when I just found that site.

Re: Hyundai to enter F1 in 2010?

They probably have deeper pockets than most of the players in F1 now. They could be successful if they spy/cheat/bribe enough. Here's hoping they rededicate their resources to racing in F1 and abandon the US market.

I can't imagine how that's going to help them sell cars and SUV thingies. But then again, there are some pretty naive people out there.

Hmm interesting so this could mean that maybe they will buy the Toyota team since they got until 2010 to things turn around

Re: Hyundai to enter F1 in 2010?

Whats with all the negativity? I assume noone here watches F1? Anyway, since when is there nothing to gain by racing in F1? I think this would be a smart move by Hyundai, assuming they can afford it. F1 is the most technically advanced and most popular form of Auto Racing on the planet(though MOTOGP is easily the best). To field a competative program in F1 is a hell of a feat. If Hyundai could just run in the middle of the pack along with Renault, Honda(well not this year lol) and BMW i would be impressed. F1 isnt something you can just throw money at and succeed. Look at toyota, in 2006 they spent 418 million dollars, 10mil more than the 2nd biggest spender, and their F1 program is far from competative. This would improve their image to the more than 500 million unique viewers of F1 each year and likely more than that.
